| Useful feeding tip I recently picked up a good feeding tip at my local club that I thought I'd pass along. So simple yet effective. Patton is an unmistakable glutton. He scarfs down his daily Canidae within seconds of being released to eat. Oftentimes, he ends up coughing, burping and sometimes vomiting up a fair amount because he eats it so doggone fast. SOLUTION - Place a softball, large sized Kong, or other item of good size right in the middle of the food bowl so as to make them pick the food from around the object, thus the intake time is a lot slower. It's got to be better for their digestion. It amazes me that it has not occurred to him to remove the softball, but he hasn't yet after about a month. Hopefully this helps out all of the other gluttons out there.

| Another suggestion would be to use a larger feed dish, like a puppy dish so the food is spread out more. As for "using a heavy piece of chain" I would be concerned with possably chipping a tooth. JMO :)

| Muckdogs -I sent you a pm! If Patton is anything like Deiter - not much will keep his food from going down fast!! I've heard of placing objects in the bowl as well. Elisabeth

| Elisabeth, Got your PM, sent you a private E. Sounds like Patton is like Deiter, only 5 months old and not much can stand in the way between him and the feeding trough. On his down-stay, he just stares at the bowl and quivers. That's why I think that slowing him down a bit was such a great idea. Literally downed about three cups in less than ten seconds. Unbelievable!!

| Sebastian tends to inhale his food, too. I put one of those big Nylabones (the really heavy ones with "pimples") in his dish. It's worked out very well. :) Audrey

| Move that feeding spot into the house. Birds carry disease and you do not want them in your dog's food bowl. Put the food down for 20 minutes and then pick it up, twice a day. Perhaps you are giving her too much, but no matter, do not leave the food down for more than 20 minutes. She won't starve herself to death and will be more likely to learn proper eating habits this way.
