Rottie comments.....

When you are aout walking your dogs what are the most common sayings that you get:

Daz: HE'S HOW OLD?!!?
Brianna: Look how her coat shines.

The most common things I hear is can we pet them and do they bite? :)

About my male: Boy, he's big. I wouldn't want to mess with him.

About my female: Isn't she cute.

About both of them I get the questions: Are you sure they are purebred, they both have tails? Are they related?

"Beautiful dogs..."
"Are they walking you?"
"German or American?"
"Male and Female? When are the puppies due?"
"oh sh-t"
or they cross the street... ;)

"How much does he weigh?" I used to get SO tired of that, I just started replying "enough." Don't you just hate when people start telling you about their brother-in-law's "180lb German blockhead Rockweiler."?

"Is he friendly?" "Can I pet him?" (Yes & yes!) I love it when people with kids have read the Good Dog Carl books & want their kids to pet my dogs....who have always been wonderful with children. :)

Cooper has a fluffy, longish coat (I think it's really pretty, but of course "incorrect.") So people think he's a mix.

The other night while working with Boris, someone said he is the most aristocratic looking dog. That was a first :D and I was thinking this is a doofus doggie. Most of the comments have been like other peoples posts. Oh, someone asked me if he was trained to a t t a c k. They actually spelled it.

Since MacKenzie is so friendly - what we get the most is "Oh how cute, can we pet him. When he was smaller we got a lot of "What kind is he?" Now most people seem to recognize that he is a rottie. We (knock on wood) have not gotten any negative sayings yet. Oh yes, we also get surprised looks at how well he minds and follows commands.

"He's beautiful!"

"How old is he?"

From children: "Can I pet him?" (yes! he loves kids!) and I even had one child say "can I ride him??" ;) this child was about 3 or 4. Of course the answer was no! :D

"What kind of dog is he?" I say "Rottweiler" They say "REALLY!?? He looks so small/how come he's not aggressive/letting you talk to me??" (he is 26 inches, 100lbs)

"Where did you learn to train/have him trained? He's so well behaved! My dog can't do that/I'd like to have my dog do that!" I've been told this while working him off lead at a local off-lead park.

And Carina, YES! I've had that brother-in-law thing said to me many times....I'll be walking Mojave down a local street, people will be watching us, stop us and say "Ahh a WOTREILER! My "fill in the blank" has one! Yeah that dog was 200lbs solid muscle, attacked everything that moved..." I tell them "sounds like your so & so doesn't have a real ROTTWEILER..have a nice day!"

I think the most common is always "how old?" followed by "german or american?" and then of course, "can I pet him? How did you come up with his name? Do you show? where did you train? Are you going to breed?" The list goes on and on and yes, Carina, it seems like every other person I have been approached by, either used to have or knows someone with a 180#plus rottie!! ;) :D

Let's see
Is it a boy or a girl?

Wow she's shiny
Does she bite...etc.etc.

Aren't Rottweilers mean? That one really had me irritated.

I once had a guy tell that he knew a guy with a 400# Rott, I laughed at him.

Daisy is shiny and sleek, has a waggy long tail and a long-ish muzzle, definitely not a "block head." The usual reaction from people when I say she's a Rottie, is to express surprise that she is (1) so pretty, (2) so well-behaved, and (3) so friendly. At 71 pounds, 23" tall (7 months) she is still fairly small and unintimidating. We go yard-sale shopping on Saturday mornings, and I consider her my Rottie goodwill ambassador. Most people are amazed at what a nice dog she is "for a Rottweiler." Kids love her, and I sometimes wonder that she has any fur left on her head and back after all the petting!

Most frequent comment from children: "What happened to their tails?"
