| I think it is harder to train bitches to get along then males. It seems once they hate each other and fight, their main purpose in life is to kill the other bitch. About all you can do is rehome one or keep them seperated at all times.

| My, My, do I know how you feel My problem is with my males, I have a male, intact rotti, my sister has a lab, and the rotti wants to end it for the poor lab. All I can say, if it is as dangerous as you describe, isolate the dogs so that they can not longer get near eachother. Trust me, if my rotti got near the other dog and they were unrestrained, the rotti would kill him, so this is no joke. Unfortunately, some dogs can hate eachother, and I know that I have felt badly about this, but sometimes there are things that are just better delt with the easy way, and I think isolation and complete separation is the key if they are this dangerous together. |

| I am having the same problem with 2 females. They are both spayed (an English Bulldog and Boerboel/Lab mix). I thought it was more of a domination thing. They both want all attention and really try to start with each other when I'm around. The funny thing is that they sleep together and I mean all over each other. Go figure... |

| Love.my.pets: Your situation is much better than that of poor selliot's whose situation is truly dangerous. Your dogs basically like each other--I bet they have a good time playing together. The fact they get hissy when you're around implies they're viving for your attention, anxious that one is going to get pets and the other isn't. I suggest you sternly curb this behavior, making it *perfectly* clear that they must mind their manners and act nice all the time. They're acting the way they do when you're around because you're too easy on them. Correct them the instant they start acting up. |

| 03/19/2001 12:08 PM CST Selliot, I you can train them to comply to the “ off” command unconditionally, that would help immensely; same goes for the “down” command. Dogs can’t fight when they’re in a down. What is their status as far as obedience training?
