What do you do for your Rotti's birthday?

It is going to be Marx's first birthday tomorrow. He's been great. I am thinking about a way to celebrate his birthday that he can also enjoy. Like to know what everyone on this forum do for their dog's birthday?:)

First off dogs have no clue to what birthdays are. They can reach a very ripe old age and still have no clue to what all the excitement is about.:D Having said that They get more treats than normal and maybe a marrow bone. What 1 gets they both get.:)

I agree with Roscoe, they have no clue what's going on. The only reason we celebrate the birhtdays is for the fun. I love getting my dog stuff, and she has no idea what it's for, but it's fun for both of us. :)

I'd say take your dog out for some vanilla ice cream and buy a nice safe new chew toy! :D

Well, this year we did absolutely nothing. The only birthday I know for sure is Cooper's (January 4.)

Last year though, we got Cooper the best present - we got him Daphne! January 4 was the day we brought her home from the pound. :) :)

When Arby's used to have the "5 for $5" deal, we always had that for doggie birthdays. Or I use that occasion to make homemade dog biscuits, or they have Hamburger Helper, or Rocky's Salmon Brownies (personal favorite, good for man and beast!). But Roscoe's dad is exactly right, we do it for ourselves:D !

When my most special dog had his 14th birthday in 1999, I was so excited. He was a big mixed shepherd at 95-100 lbs, and for him to reach 14, well, I thought it was a miracle. So that year I made dog biscuits, packaged them up with a little sticker that said "In honor of the Devildog's 14th birthday!", and gave them to every dog person we knew. He didn't quite make 15.:(

Most importantly though, just make sure you have some special time tomorrow. Happy Birthday Marx!!!!!!!

Both of my dogs are rescues, so I have no idea what their actual birthdays are. Instead, we celebrate their "Gottcha" Day -- the day they joined our family. Gretchen's is April 1 (yup, April Fool's!), and Sebastian's is October 15th. They do get special treatment -- maybe a new toy, and always plenty of treats. There used to be a doggie bakery nearby and the owner always handed out goodies -- sadly, the place closed down about a year ago but there's another pet supply store that has a "birthday club" for pets. The dog gets a box of biscuits and his picture taken.

Birdie turned one on January 4th (same as Cooper, Carina!) We gave her extra treats, took her to the park and gave her extra hugs, kisses and belly scratches!

Blade's first birthday was November 14th and we threw him a party, complete with people and his doggie friends. The house was decorated in 102 Dalamatian decorations (plates, tableclothes, noisemakers, hats, streamers, etc.) I baked him and his pals a doggie friendly cake and had a woman make a human cake in the shape of a Rottweiler head.

We gave him presents as well as other guests (humans and dogs).

Had a grand time. Granted he had no idea what everyone was fussing about but he loved the attention! And it's great to look back on the pictures and see his cute little face complete with a birthday hat!
