Lost my dog - MASSACHUSETTS :(

I hope it's okay for me to post this here?

I am hoping that by chance, if someone on the board happens to live in the North Shore area (Saugus) of Massachusetts...I lost my rottie mix, Buddy.

The facts:
Black/brown (rottie markings/color)
Approx. 60 lbs
Male, neutered
Wearing black collar with all tags & red bandana
Answers to Buddy. Friendly.

I am so completely heartbroken. We have been searching for Buddy non-stop for two days. We've been posting signs and driving up and down asking people. The local dog catcher has been helping search and all the surrounding area town's animal control have been informed. I am feeling so hopeless now because he has ID, if someone found him, I thought they would call by now http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/frown.gif it's been 2 days now so far.

Please........if anyone, happens to live in the area and saw him, please contact me!

Make sure to contact your local shelters and veterinary hospitals, as well as animal emergency for all towns within a 20 mile radius. put up posters with his picture. The longer he sits in the shelter or on the streets,t he better his chances of being dead are. You are close enough to some ugly dog-fighting areas that things that I wouldn't want to describe here could happen to him. Make lots nad lots of phone calls.

We will keep Buddy in our prayers and hope that he is home soon. I had a stray staying with me for a few days last week. He had tags on but it took him some time to be comfortable enough to let me get at them. Maybe that is the case with Buddy. Sounds like you have a lot of people looking for him so hopefully he will be home soon. Don't give up! We'll be thinking of you.

Thanks everyone.

I have done all of the suggestions and appreciate them.

My worst fear is that someone took him. The area that he was last seen heading towards is a very bad area. We were told that he was seen walking with another man and his dog and that's the last trace we can find of him. 5 different people in the same clustered area (a few miles from where he was lost) saw him but all those sightings were from Sunday. Nothing yesterday http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/frown.gif

I am afraid this person took him. We scouted out the area where the person is said to live hoping to see him walking his dog or with mine. So far, nothing.

I am still praying for you, and I really hope he is alright....sometimes dogs are attracted to other dogs, and he might just be hanging around the area to see the other dog he was following....dont give up hope...I would even lie in my posters saying the dog needs medication, offer reward...etc.

I found a rottie not very long ago and rather than leaving him to the elements I brought him home,I bet that is what happened..If the man was walking his dog and yours,he must be a good owner,I left word with the police station, near where I found the dog,2 days later ,the owner called,He went home..He is probably waiting for someway to return him,to find out where he came from, could the tags have fallen off,..How did you lose him,was he running free????? We/ve had two people on this board that lost theirs a month or so ago,and got them both back,,Put posters up in the area where he was spotted,in stores, everywhere. You'll find him, don't give up OK??? Praying,Jean

Don't give up hope, as Jean posted, two members of the forum lost their pups and found them. Haunt the shelters near you, and keep posting signs. Best wishes in your search and please keep us posted.

Home safe, sound and snoozing!

Many thanks to all for your kind words, suggestions and most of all, prayers.

Someone asked how he got loose. We were visiting relatives in the area in which we used to live. I left Buddy there with my in-laws to "babysit" for the day because I had to go to an event in Boston. Buddy knows them well and they have taken care of him for me when I've gone on vacation. As they told it to me, they opened the door to bring him out to the backyard, he put his ears down, and bolted. Well, to make a long story short, we found him at our old house. The area in which he was seen on Sunday was the next town over, he somehow, backtracked from there and then found his way to our old house (we've since moved out of state). We'd been checking our old street over and over again since he was missing. He just recently showed up. We notified so many people that a woman on the next street over that knew about him, saw him and called right away.

We're all home now, exhausted! but reunited.

A happy ending after all http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif
