That wonderful smell of sense

Last night I saw a great TV transmission about dogs and how their wonderful noses have saved human lives, in a quite different way, than we normally think about.

Two dogs started a strange behavior licking one of the family members in an extraordinary way, at the same spot of the body… and both of these people afterwards had the diagnosis- skin cancer, located to the spot where the dog licked.
An American bomb dog was cross trained to “skin cancer dog” and never missed one of the cell – test and also pointed out the spot of a person with the diagnose skin cancer. The same dog was also trained to point out lung cancer.

Other examples of untrained dog’s skills to intercept sickness of humans, was also proved.
A young girl, with epilepsy and average 12 grand mal fits a week could finally go out an enjoy her life, because her dog warned her each time – exactly 40 min. before she got a fit, so she always could get help, even people thought she was crazy.

Another dog warned a blind woman who also suffered from diabetes about a falling bloodsucker. The dog began to lick the woman’s legs and then sat in front of the refrigerator and stamped the feet, so the blind woman would hear. At nights the dog woke up her son.

A very well behaved Collie warned a mother with a suddenly scratching, jumping and barking, when her 5 weeks old child sleeping in another room, was suffocating and dieing.

A fireman was walking his two Rotties. Suddenly the one lay down and would not walk one food. He thought there was something wrong with the dog, and started walking homewards. But then, the dog constantly ran in front of the fireman like telling him – hurry up. Not long after they came home, the man had and heart attack.

Amazing, isn’t it?
Do you have had such similar experiences??
