Kennels

Hi everyone! I am a new member andI just wanted to share and experience with everyone. I purchased my male Rottie from kimbertal in May 00' and he is healthy and doing well. I feel very fortunate of his health and temperment. I have heard many stories; most of them bad about this kennel. Schultz is a 10month old nuetered 110pnd male who has passed obedience I with an A. About the kennel though, The conditions the pups were kept in were below average. I have heard many people say they were clean-They must have had a prearranged visit as I just popped in. Th litter my dog was from was infested with ticks as I found out when I phone Mr. Yarnell the following day about the ticks on Schultz when I arrived home with him. It is my fault I did not thoroughly check him. I checked his paws(except between the pads where the ticks were), his eyes, gums, teeth, coat, ears and attentiveness. The groomer supposedly cleaned him for me but "missed the ticks" obviously. They were not deer ticks luckily. The helpers who were cleaning the quarters were inexperienced and probably didn't care about the pups because they used corn brooms and a hose to clean the pens. Ironically my dog still fears both brooms and the hose but I am teaching him they are not all that bad.
My advice is make sure you look at all the fine details before you set eyes on a Rottie pup because they are so sweet they will make you forget how they were brought into the world. Also, buying from places like kimbertal keeps a puppy factory in business and provides misconceptions about the breed standard. Most of their dogs are bred for size.

P.S. The people who didn't have problems with their dogs payed a little more $$ such as celebs and sports figures.

Their moddo was "You get what you pay for"

True breeders sell what they invest in the breed- love and devotion.

RayRottNJ:

You're preaching to the converted here about that kennel--anyone who has spent any time on this Forum knows all about them (assuming they didn't already know).

I am moving this topic to General Info since it does not pertain specifically to breed specific legislation.

RayRottNJ, thank you for your post - I believe that the better informed one is about the purchase of a rottie puppy, the better, and your story may help others think more before they buy. Please feel free to continue this discussion in the General Info forum.

I've herd alot about this kennel lately all over the net.

One of my rules when selecting a breeder is the conditions of the dogs liveing area. Even when they try to clean for appointment there is some signs that things are not right. If there kennels are below par this shows me they do not care enough about there animals, so how much do they really care about there breeding program.
