| Gifts for family members I had a family christmas party last night and that is when I announced my new addition to my family! WOW..the reactions I received! Not what I thought! They weren't too supportive...well the older generations wasn't:( so my thought was to buy them all the "rottweiler for dummies" book to educate at them all on rots! I was really disappointed to learn my family is part of that group where they classify the rot with the bad rep! :( So of course me being a smarty pants...haha..i looked at my mother who is the biggest problem right now and said.."Well, I guess you better start coming over more so Tank can get use to you!" :D ;) :D haha my husband walked out of the room laughing because of the expression on her face Ok sorry just was thinking out loud and I guess needed to vent! I could really get into it but its the day before christmas eve and I am not gonna let any comments ruin it for me :D hahhaJust one note to all those who replied tomy crate question...TANK slept till 4 this morning without whining as much. He whined for like 5 mins then went down for the count:D I even added a stuff animal in his crate to help him have something to snuggle up with :D Happy Holidays to all :) WIRott Tank-8 week old rottie:D:) |

| Great idea!!! I may have to use that idea, too! Everyone in my family loves my dog except for my mother and my mother-in-law. They tolerate her, but aren't thrilled with the breed. Saturday we went to my parents house for dinner and my younger brothers and sister were playing with Birdie (they are 8, 11, and 12). Birdie is so good with them and kept licking their faces and having a ball, so I said to my mother -"yeah, she's real viscious, isn't she?" and she told me that she's not worried about the dog around any children, she's worried that when I have kids that she is going to become overly protective and not let anyone (meaning her) near the baby! I said - where did you hear that from and she said - that's what experts say! Ha! So, I asked her what experts and she couldn't name any, so I said fine, go on the internet and at least let me see the article where it says that - of course she couldn't show me any. She shut up real quick! |

| That's a great idea! Many people have a wrong overall impression of certain breeds...it's not because they are bad or ignorant, just because they don't know that much except the occasional awful stories in the news. Not their fault at all. It's up to you & Tank to change their minds. :) I know you're new here...there have been a number of past discussions on how family & friends react to the Rott'n family member. Most people come around when they realise that not all Rottweilers are unpredictable child-killers. My brother came visiting before thanksgiving with his new girlfriend. He told me she was a bit nervous about spending several days in a house with three Rottweilers. The dogs did themselves proud, and she was getting really comfortable with them. On the last day they were here, we all took Dutch & Daphne for a long walk in the woods. Dutch was on a 20' line and started nosing furiously in a pile of deadwood...before I had a chance to call him off he dragged out a possum and proceeded to kill it right in front of us. Jeez, silly dog. Luckily, she was OK about it...Yay on the crate thing! Happy holidays to you & yours too.

| I've said it before, and I'll say it again, get everybody some Carl books!!! My favorite is "Carl Goes Shopping", when he and the baby are in the department store, eating bonbons and trying on hats and napping on the rugs in the home department. The bookstores are still open!!!!;) M2 |

| I love those books! My sister gave my son the one where Carl takes care of the baby while mom goes shopping. I love the part where Carl makes a sandwich for the baby - one big paw smashing the loaf of bread while he gently removes the first slice! They are really cute books.
