I don't understand what they (neuticals) would be for. The look? I always thought that was a human trait. I don't think the bitches at a doggie park check out the dogs but, I guess I could be mistaken. But then again, I've never been a big fan of breast implants either.

To me, is more about not developing the correct male temperament and masculine character, than just body size. Why do you think neutered pets get softer, calmer, and less aggressive?... Early neutered dogs do not develop the desired Rottweiler male charateristics. The lack of testosterone in the hormonal system, creates a less masculine dog, not so much in appeareance

I said it in before in other threads relate to the neutering issue: of course removing body organs eliminates the chance of getting cancer! (Kind of radical if you ask me). Now the facts, are all intact males developing prostate and/or testicular cancer? No, only a small percentage of them.

Is neutering necessary? Well, unfortunately yes! The majority of dog onwers are not responsible enough to prevent "accidental" or unwanted dog matings. So, I agree, most pets should be neutered, but not because the "threat of cancer", but because is a sad reality of life: there is a proliferation of unwanted puppies. However, for those truly responsible and commited dog owners, I advise them to wait until your male dog is about 2 years old before you have "them" cut-off! Let you male grow be that: a male dog

I grew up on a farm & we had male dogs. However, we never neutered them. We lived way off in the sticks. Our dogs never saw another dog.
Not having experience with this, (only as far as cats when I moved from home, we had them done at 6 months), is it harder on the dog physically, to wait until he's 2 ? Or, does it not really make a difference what age they are?

Oh yeah, the procedure is easier when the puppy's testicles have not descended yet, it is a bit more complicated when the dog is an adult. However, the question is, do you want your dog to grow "softer and calmer"? Or high driven and manly?

The question of whether dogs should be neutered before the age of two has been debated many times in the past. While I do not mind this subject being discussed again, the original post was about Neuticles and the necessity of having them implanted. Please stick to the original topic. If you wish to discuss the merits/drawbacks of neutering itself, please start another topic.

Sorry, I didn't realize that. I just read another post concerning neutering.
Soft, tall, manly, doesn't matter. What is best for dog is my main concern.
I better be quiet now, before I get swatted by an admin.

Fake testicles? I really doubt that inserting any kind of foreign material into a dog's body (of human's for that matter) could result in anything good.. Dogs don't really sweat the loss of their sexuality like a human may do, so it seems like these neuticals would be an expensive ploy to get an overly concerned owner to spend some money. Who know what the long term effects may be??

Ha! To think I almost missed this thread! It reminds me of a story I heard about 10 years ago, can't verify if it's true, but it sure is funny!
A dog owner was showing one of his dogs, however, one of his testicles was undescended (the dog that is, LOL!). He had a 2nd fake testicle implanted and at a subsequent show, you guessed it, the Judge was able to do a juggling act, so to speak. The 2nd testicle had come down unbenownst to the owner! Just goes to show you, you can't fool Mother Nature!

When it comes to dogs, IMHO, males should have their bags unpacked and females should get rid of the crib but leave the playpen

Miss Dyxy! Heard about a GSD this happened to - could it be the same dog? Heard the judge was none too happy about the extra baggage!!! LMAO2 !!

IMO, neuticles are for the psychology of the owner, not the dog. Silly, silly stuff.
