| Best day I have had in a long time!! I took my 1 1/2 year old girl, Audrey, in for her annual shots and exam on Saturday. My vet checked her back end because she has been walking all funky and strange, he heard grinding. Immediatly I booked her in for a x-ray, but they could not do one till today. I was completly beside myself all weekend; first my boy - bite history now; and now this? Well I picked her up at noon today and her hips are in great shape. I was able to see the x-ray myself. She is weak as far as muscles go and that we cannot figure out because she is walked twice a day generally around 2 hours per day. We have her on Glucosomine which the vet thinks we should keep her on for life. What a relief! Anyhow, just had to share the happy news with folks who understand! Jill :p |

| So then, why the funny walk and grinding? Is it the joints themselves?? I'd still be concerned..

| The funny walk is because she has next to no muscles in the rear end. The vet that we saw on x-ray day did test her again, she heard no grinding at all! I guess a second opinion is a good thing. We are going to have x-rays done again in a year because 2 1/2 years old is generally when HD shows its ugly face. Any ideas on how to build up that muscle? In the summer both dogs are in the river swimming on a daily basis, but alas, I am in Canada and winter has finally hit. No swimming for a few more months, god willing. I wish there was an indoor pool for dogs, that would be a blast. Jill |
