Bad Commercial

HAS ANYONE SEEN THE NEW HYUNDAI COMMERCIAL WHERE THE GUY IS DRIVING AND HIS DOG IS GETTING CHASED BY A HUGE MALE ROTTIE AT THE LAST MOMENT BEFORE THE COMMERCIAL MAKES THE IMPRESSION THAT THE ROTTIE IS GOING TO TEAR HIM APART THE OTHER DOG JUMPS IN THE CAR AND THEY BOTH DRIVE OFF SAFE. AS IF OUR DOGS DONT HAVE ENOUGH BAD PUBLICITY WE CERTAINLY DONT NEED TV COMMERCIAL ALTERING THE MINDS OF MORE PEOPLE. STUPID PEOPLE NEVER HAD A CLUE PROBABLY JUST THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUNNY. NEVER REALIZED THE IMPACT IT COULD HAVE.

WHATS YOUR OPINION ON THIS COMMERCIAL?

I AGREE WITH YOU ON SENDING AN EMAIL TO HYUNDAI. THE COMMERCIAL IS NOT BAD BUT IT JUST MAKES THE ROTTIE OUT TO BE MEAN THAT HE IS TRYING TO GET THE OTHER DOG AND WHEN THE DOG GETS IN THE CAR THE COMMENT THE DRIVER MAKES I BELIEVE IS "TOLD YOU SHE HAD A BOYFRIEND" KIND OF CUTE BUT JUST NOT THE BEST ROTTIE IMAGE THAT I WOULD LIKE PORTRAYED. PERSONALLY I THINK THE COMMERCIAL WOULD HAVE BEEN FUNNIER THE OTHER WAY AROUND A ROTTIE RUNNING FROM SOME LITTLE MIXED BREED DOG AND JUMPING IN THE CAR. THAT HAS COMEDY TO IT. (AT LEAST IN MY DULL MIND)

i agree 100%. i also agree that an email to hyundai is in order as well. all rottweiler owners should boycott them! ha ha.

i haven't seen this commerical either.

i was watching a tv show once.. it was one of those "caught on tape" police type shows. there were 2 officers trying to catch 2 stray, wild and not-so-friendly dogs in some city ghetto and you'll never guess what breed the dogs were..... rotties. i bet if there were 2 wild poodles you'd it never would have made the show (not that i have anything against poodles or anything).

i havent seen the comercial yet but really it sounds like the human males biggest fear getting caught by the girls big bad boy freind. really itsounds kind of funny and the rott is the big burly jealous boyfriend type. i think people will probably watch it and laugh instead of say omg look at that rott. i'd say get over it and take it like it was intentioned a cutsy commercial to sell cars

That's like the deoderant commercial...

The art thief (Mission Impossible style) is listening to instructions via headphones - the instructions go on to say the floor is heat sensitive....the guy applies the deoderant to his feet, walks across the floor, grabs the picture....and the person giving the instructions says...."I forgot the mention the Attack dogs." - 3 rotties in huge collars come leaping across the screen 3D style.....end of commercial.

Ya know, it wasn't the fact they used rotties.... it was their choice of words..... "Attack" instead of say, "Guard"...... that bothered me the most.....

they should use a golden retriever for one of these commercials and see what the publics reaction would be from that. no one would even consider doing something like that. that would be unfare.

I saw it

I actually saw the commercial. The plot of the commercial was that the mixed dog was messing with the rotties girlfriend and the rottie was chasing him away. Heh I actuallu thought it was cute and funny. But you are right, it doesnt help sell the car :p

On the other hand, has anyone seen the Midas commercial that uses 2 Rotties? They have their backs to the camera, and one guy bounces a treat off a table and the Rottie catches it, then the other guy does the same thing and his dog catches it. (We can do the same things the others do, is the point of the commercial.) Rotties get a lot of bad press, and it probably will never change, just because they are so powerfully built, and that sends a message in itself.

Yes it does!.. because the commercial sticks in your head... and you remember that it was a Hyundai ad..

that is the point of all ads, like those stupid jinglels that we all hate.. but like them or not, they become a part of your subconcious..

oops, sorry Larry, didn't see your post :)

It might surprise you to know that the 3 rotties in this commercial are very well trained, very accomplished, and very well known, the 3 dogs are as follows:

Tressy vom Ertman Am/Can CD, NA, U-CD, U-AGI, TT, HCT, CGC, TDI, MRC Hall of Fame, ARC Silver Dam "Tressy"

V-1 Ch Esmonds Eat Your Heart Out Am/Can CD, BH, U-CD, U-AGI, TT, HIC, CGC, TDI "Envy"

Both owned by Ann Felske-Jackman of Esmond Rottweilers in Canada, Ann is a VERY well respected breeder.

And

V-Rated Ch Jowett's Blazing Fire CD, TT, CGC, RTD "Dylan"
owned by Cassie Levy

I am going to include a bit of what Ms. Felske-Jackman had to say about her dogs doing this commercial:

Quote:
We hemmed and hawed about doing this piece because of the connotation for the breed. However, they were adamant that the breed be Rottweilers, so we figured we may as well at least give them a bunch of working therapy dogs in case of any backlash. You should have seen the faces of the crew when we came in with our "Killers"...10 year old Tressy, Envy who was pregnant at the time and Dylan who is about the sweetest dog anyone will ever meet. We had the least scary group of Rottweilers on the planet :-)

Anyhow just wanted to point out that things aren't always what they seemed and that the dogs in this commercial are owned by one of the most responsible, caring, active supporters of the breed and its future there is, there are reasons for everything!

Another sighting???

I love any chance I can get to see a Rottie on TV. As far as I'm concerned....the main reason is because they are such great dogs! They are on TV because they are better than the rest :)

There has only been one time that I got a little bummed...and that was this weekend, and most likey going to be tonight as well. On animal planet, the show Animal Cops or Animal Precinct, can't remember which one right now. They has an episode that I think airs tonight. During the advertisement for the episode in question, there is this poor little guy/girl shaking like a leaf. I'm watching just to find out what they do to the bastards that own him/her.

If anyone gets a chance to see the ad before I get home, could you post the actual show that has what I'm talking about??

patton_jr, i saw that same commercial for that show. it's a new show called animal cops and it's on at 10 pm (at least where i live). i won't be able to watch it tonight so you'll have to tell me if it's any good!

ps this is the description from tvguide.com

House of Cats
60 min.
Included: a house on Detroit's east side that is full of cats. Also: investigators check allegations of a woman who beat her dog with a flaming stick; evidence in an abandoned house leads to a dog-fighting operation.
