Playtime - Your dog's preferences

My dog is a playing maniac. In the 7 months she's been here, she's developed quite a varied taste in playing preferences.

Right now, she's hooked on this little stuffed seal with a really funny sounding squeaker, not a high squeak, but more of a seal sounding low bark, or as my son noted, "like a fart machine". heh

Everytime I hear that thing being squeaked, it just cracks me up.

What's your dog's favorite toy, play game, or fun activity? Have you noticed that the dog is playing while engaged in prey drive or simply "play drive"? Share details please! :D

'Come find me'

Daisy LOVES come find me. It also works on her sit/stay/out of sight skills. She gets so excited when she finds me. I try to play this with her a couple of times a week. I have to be pretty inventive with the hiding too.

She also likes to fetch the tennis ball.

Chief's favorite toy/game is anything involving his "soccer ball"...whether we are palying fetch with him...or he is kicking the ball and chasing it around the house himself (which is quite amusing i must say:D ) he has a ball..and would play for hours (except for when WE wanna play..lol)
he's definatrly a blast to watch ....rolling on his back..and taking his ball in his mouth and "throwing" it at us if we aren't paying attention.....
They are just a joy aren't they???

My puppy LOVES those plastic soda pop bottles! At night when she gets the zoomies, we throw one of those and she just chases it all over the place and it's so funny to watch her try to get it since it's round and slippery she has a hard time getting it! :D

OMG..I almost forgot about those..Chief absolutely loves plastic soda bottles..we don't give them to him as much anymore because #1...too many little pieces of plastic..and #2 the noise is terrible if you're trying to relax and watch a little T.V. (crunch...crunch.....)

Yeah, I worry about the plastic breaking, but she can't get her little mouth around it yet and I watch her very closely.

I'm sure when she gets older and stronger, I'll need to take them away.

It's just so funny to watch her jump on it in an attempt to catch it! :p

My dog has a stuffed toy, I believe it is a Muscrat. It has a squeeker in the nose, in the tummy and in the long tail. She grabs it any time she wants to play and squeeks it. I have never seen a dog so attached to a stuffed toy. She sleeps with it.

Sajan just LOVES to play. He doesn't care what toy it is. Sometimes he can't decide which one to play with so he tries to carry 2 or 3 around. However, I do believe he most favorite activity is swimming and playing with the water;)

Swimming and chasing other dogs

My girl, Zev, also loves going swimming in a few natural bodies of water around here. If other dogs are present, while they're swimming around together, she'll find a dog with a long tail and clamp onto it with her teeth. Not hard to break the skin, but just for the fun of it. Her favorite tails are the kind with fluffy fur on them so they look like prey of some sort. She began swimming alone chasing sticks this fall - all this from her early days when she'd tippy toe into the water, like it was battery acid and then rush out. Now she runs like a fiend, butt tucked under and hits the water like a Lab. I die laughing.

Lately, she's been enthralled with having myself or anyone here take her sqeaky furry toys, wiggle them maddly in her face and she will go nuts mock biting them. If I take the toy and run it along the floor [this is actually quite an aerobic workout, let me tell ya] like it's alive for 45 minutes straight. I play hide and seek with it too, "Find it!" and she just LOVES that SO much it's hilarious. Her cute blocky head gets that wrinkeled forehead thing going on and it's soooo amusing.

If you won't play with her, she'll run around flipping it, squeaking it madly, and putting her butt in the air while the stub wags madly, hoping I'll play [she hates me being on the computer - tried to bite the keyboard yesterday!! and barked at it when I turned it on today!] She's jealous of my computer I think. :D :D

When Apollo wants to play, he will walk up to me with his rubber squeaky toy and ACT like he is going to put it in my lap. As soon as I reach to get it he turns his head. He will keep repeating this until I say "GIVE IT TO ME" in my dastardly evil mad scientist voice and then the chase is on!!

When I want to play, all I have to do is say the same "GIVE IT TO ME" in the evil mad scientist voice and he'll run and get the toy.. and the chase is on!!

My boy's favorite game, by far, is actually his food bowl. Especially when it is cold outside he will flip it over and slide it all over the house (which is carpeted). The best is when he puts both front paws on it and pushes himself from room to room like it is a scateboard, checking on everything that is going on. It is a great workout and he will play for hours, pouncing and flipping and sliding on the bowl. He is relatively self entertaining...
