Ignorant people

I am no rottie expert being a first time rottie mom, but I am so frustrated that there are so many people who think rotties are vicious or mean just because of their reputation.

A friend of mine just told me that her sister-in-law just got a Rottweiler puppy because she wanted a dog to protect her! According to my friend, this woman already has a big dog, and shouldn't own any dogs because her idea of training is to beat them until they are afraid of her!!

I think of my sweet Harley who loves everyone and absolutely loves to cuddle, and I can't imagine wanting him to be mean. Hearing this makes me so upset, and I feel so sorry for that poor little pup going into a home like that. :(

My hubby's ex-wife got a rott because of the "status" of owning such a "vicious" dog. That's how we ended up with our gorgeous boy.:p ;)

I just wish there was something I could do about that poor puppy.:( :(

If that girl keeps treating her Rottie pup like that - she will not like what the pup will grow up to be like!!! About everybody on this Forum knows what I am talking about - another bad owner - another bad adult Rottie, probably one that will get left at the shelter/pound and have to be put down! Makes me sick.

That really aggravates me when I hear stuff like that. People are the one's that give these dog's a bad reputation and when the dog goes bad who get's put down?? I have 3 rotties and my 2 yr. old male could be mean if need be..but, otherwise he's a big 140lb. mush..who wants to sit on your lap and kiss you too death. Not all people should be allowed/have such dogs. As it is they have a bad reputation because of people like that lady!

If she's actually beating the dog, there may be local laws against this, I'd check with your local Humane Society or someone.

The idea of anyone beating a helpless animal for any reason makes me sick...hate to hear of s**t like that.

Ignorant cruel people abound

Sadly, those who would be and are cruel to dogs and other animals abound.

Taking my girl for a walk down a sidestreet here that's a dead end, I noticed a neighbor's dog was chained on a 4' foot white rope of some sort, to the back concrete steps. The dog house wasn't accessible because the rope was too short. So the dog was sitting there in a pouring rain, shivering. I noticed that two cars were parked in the driveway and I took note of the address. I reported them to Animal Control, who was very lackadaisical, until I said I'd take my video camera down there, film it and then send along to the local news stations with a note saying that So and So at the Animal Control wouldn't investigate.

Two days later, the dog is inside now, presumably tied up. But out of the driving pouring rain.

BTW, I was soaked to the skin and my girl was too, but she loves the rain and running and cavorting in it. So I go out anyway with her then towel her off, wrap her in a big huge dry towel and let her snooze like a bear. Those wet walks work on her like a sleeping pill. :D

Rotties...mean??...not by my boy..if he is inside and someone walks by, he sounds like a big 500lb vicious mean animal( mind you he's a 9 month old 60 lb baby) ..but if he's outside..and someone walks by...be careful you might get mauled by the face- licking..nub-wagging fool the only threat he sems to be is the fact that he is still a pup ..who hasn't quite gotten the "don't jump" rule down pat yet...but we're working on it:D

My 6 months old girl's do the same thing..and my husband hates it when he gets home and they both jump up to greet him..he's not used it since the other 2 never did this. I can't seem to get them to stop this. As too them being mean..well, they could be at least my 2 yr. old male and that's only if someone was to try to break into the house otherwise he loves to sit on you lap and lick you to death and he weighs in at 130lbs. When walking the pups people see me and they walk the other way and that's with them being pups still. People just have given these dogs such a bad reputation that's it's not good for those that are good and have responsible owner's.

My whole neighborhood loves my dog (fortunately)..everyone walks by and talk to him...and the neighbors (we live in a multi family house) all think he's great.....they will keep an eye on him during the day when he's outside in his pen...we got lucky with that I guess
