Best Way to Get Puppy Home???????????

Hi everyone,

Originally, my husband and I thought that we would make the sixteen hour drive to get our new boy, however, would it be better just to have him flown in, which would take approximately 2 to 3 hours????? Whate are your experiences and what do you think is best? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you,

New2Rotties

If you can have the pup sent on a direct, no stops flight, he will probably do very well. A sixteen hour car trip would also work OK as long as you made frequent stops for exercise and play.

Please be aware that a three hour flight actually means about six hours for the pup as they are required to be at the airport two hours ahead and are first on, last off unless you can do something like Delta Dash which is counter to counter.

You need to be very careful what airline you use, I would do a road trip, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Thats just my 2 cents. Hey you could make a long weekend out of it :p

Hey Goose, how much did you lose? :D Thank goodness the dog didn't gamble, or maybe you would have had better luck if it did!

I think if you found an airline that would do counter to counter with your pup, you would be better off. I'm just thinking of the drive, and I would hate it, never mind the dog! :)

I flew from St. Louis, MO to San Francisco to bring my puppy back. Then I had no questions of how she would be. I had her in a samsonite pet bag and she did great, right there with me in the plane. She slept most of the flight. It also gives you a chance to meet the breeder and see the rest of the litter, along with the mom.
