Dangerous Rottweiler in Arlington, Virginia

My friend's little Keeshound was viciously mauled by a Rottweiler in her neighborhood in North Arlington, Virginia. The Rottweiler acted oddly, it attacked without warning, and when the attack was over sat down very calmly and licked off the blood. The woman who had the Rottweiler on a leash acted oddly as well. At no time during the attack did she call the dog off. Of course my poor friend was screaming hysterically, trying to help her tiny dog. When the woman walked off she said "I can't control my dog", and the manner in which she said it made my friend believe it to be a threat. We did manage to track the woman down, and she has two Rottweilers. The Arlington animal control knows about this, so if you want to call Mr. Glover there, at (703) 931-9241, ext. 212, and express outrage, feel free. If you'd like more information, email me at vmag@loc.gov. I can not convey how small and friendly this little rescue Keeshound is, the poor little thing should live, though he's the most traumatized dog I've ever seen.

What a horrible, horrible incident!! People like that woman make me SICK to my stomach. I really hope that woman is tracked down, her dogs taken away, and that she is charged somehow- whether it be having your friend take her to court to pay for the bills, or SOMETHING! Your friend and her dog are in my thoughts and prayers..... http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/frown.gif

That poor little dog. And the Rott was on a leash. I'll tell you this..where we lived in California (where there are too many attorneys) the dog would soon own the ladies house and everything else...righfully. I hope the Lady pays for this and I'm talking the trauma which carries no price

SICK

[. At no time during the attack did she call the dog off.
It is people like this that make our lives more difficult. They are the reason we pay higher home owners insurance, and the reason why people grab there children out of the way when we walk our UNDER CONTROL dogs down the street! I would like to take her on a walk!

and in a case like that it seems that the woman instigated the attack, in other words, she summoned her dog to attck the other! yes the dog should be taken from her and placed IN A GOOD HOME! Now I ask...is this the dogs fault????

That poor little dog! This is sadly another one of those cases, where this person should not own a rottie. Who pays, we all do! SAD!!! WHO PAYS, THE DOGS AND BREED!

How tragic! This is a clear case in which an irresponsible dog owner created a bad dog http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/frown.gif ... and the dog has to pay the price for such irresponsability... It's truly sad http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/frown.gif

However, we may find people looking for excuses to somehow justify that vicious dog attack, and say something like "maybe the girl had the potential to grow-up to be a serial killer and provoked the dog"... Nope! Again, this is IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP at its worst. A tragedy was waiting to happen... and unfortunetaly, it did http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/frown.gif

Thank to everyone for your posts and emails.

PLEASE be very careful if you walk in that neighborhood, and there is also a dog park near by. I would further urge Forum members to call animal control about this attack. This situation is a disaster waiting to happen.

Vicki Magnus:

That's truly a horrible and unfortunate incident. I am particularly curious about this because I work in Arlington, Virginia and have just started taking my 8 month old Rottie to local dog parks. Is Spout Run area considered North Arlington? I have friends in that area and that's where I occasionally walk with my pup. I'm not interested in him getting mauled due to another owner's neglect and irresponsibility! Any additional info would be appreciated.
