Heart Murmer

. My wife was working as a certified Vet Tech and a client of theirs brought in a newly purchased pup, the vet examined her from top to bottom and detected a heart murmer. A specialist was brought in and gave her a complete ultra-sound and found she had a grade 4 murmer (5 being the worst), the vet and specialist called the owner who was just crushed (she had just lost her 12 yr old Rott to cancer). The vet called the owner who told them to have her brought back and he'd either refund the money or exchange this little pup. After hours of discussion, we called the breeder and asked him his plans for the pup. He said he was "probably gonna put her down". I couldn't stand that, so we asked him to let us have her, no guarentees we would assume all costs and responsibilities. He finally relented. We knew that she may only live 6 months or a year if we were lucky. Now she is 90 pounds and 22 months old, heart murmer completely gone! As my wife says, " I guess she was washed in Star Dust" Goes to show not all Rottie stories are bad ones!

So glad it worked out!

It's upsetting when they don't even give them a chance to see if it will get better.

Hi Tim, Welcome to the forums! :)

Wow, what a great story. If you hadn't persisted and accepted her into your life "as is", medical concerns and all, no one would have ever known she was washed in stardust! Good for you! :)

Her name, "Riverside's Luck 'O the Irish" is perfect!
