This is just plain rediculous. Surely someone can take the dog on. If I were in the area I'd have him no worries. If police depatarments are going to use dogs they must be able to provide for them once retired etc. How can we as a society argue against the "throw away" mentality sorrounding dogs when dogs used by these communites to protect them are simply thrown away. Just rediculous.

I think that this is just a public outcry for financial backing...I don't think anyone who has worked with a dog for so many years would put him down...

Ohhhh, I'M sorry, but that DOG is NOT just a DOG. That DOG was HIS PARTNER!! He can't afford him, then get another J.O.B. Hell, I would get two to support my PARTNER Truly upsetting

This is freaking unbelievable!!!!!!!!! This officer should be ashamed to even wear a badge for any police department. MY MY 1200-1600 a year for a dog, big freakin deal. Factor in good food, vet bills, supplies, and I will bet my lilly white ass that almost every person on this forum pays close to that!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, one difference, our dogs haven't made it their duty to protect their handlers' lives for the past nine years, dodging bullets and risking their lives for those they protect!!!!!!!!

I am so disgusted, absolutely disgusted that a human being can be so horrible and pathetic. And it is shocking that this person is a cop.
