What can I expect after the first year? My boy Rocky is 13 months old. He is almost 26" at the withers and 100 pounds. I keep him in good shape, lots of exercise. I don't think he'll grow any taller (which is great), but do healthy, well exercized male rotts continue to add more weight after the first year? I have been told that males tend to broaden out a little more after the first year and usually put on another 10-15 pounds in the second year. Your opinions please. Thanks....Skip

Skip, Any thing would be a guesstimate. Look at his father and that will give you a good idea on what size yours will be. Some dogs reach their full size quicker than others. I dont think Rocky will grow any taller but he will get a little thicker.

TD also weighed 100lbs at one year. Then 107 at two years. He recently had to have some x-rays done and he weighed 114 which was only 4 months after his 2 year visit! So I have cut back a little, not giving as many treats as I used to. The vet said he did not look overweight though. But we have to be careful since we already know he will have hip problems. Don't want him to get too heavy, that would be harder on his hips. Hope this helps you out.
