"American Long Nosed Rottie"?????

The following ad was copied word for word from www.petfinder.com classifieds. This dog is located in Michigan. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I read this. :(

Bella is just about 9 Months old and is a very pretty dog. She is good with children. She must go to a good home. She has become too large for the house that we have and too large for our yard. She is well taken care of. she will be sold with all of her accessories which include, two collars, 2 leashes, a chain, two bowls, shampoo, treats and any food we have left over when she is adopted. She has been spayed. She is not akc registered unfortunately but has the potential to be. She is a full bred american long nose rottie. This means she has the longer snout, not the flatter face. She is very beautiful.. Pls email for more info or pics. You may also call us as well.. Adoption fees will be discussed with only serious requests. Please do not email or call if not serious about owning a rottie. Keep in mind that she is only 9 months old and is already about 30" - 40" from ground to head and weighs about 75 lbs. She is very large. We also have a cage that she sleeps in, inside the home and we would be willing to sell that as well for an additional 40.00, which is a good deal because they are over 100.00 brand new. Thanks for interest and hope to find a new family for her soon. She must go before winter as we dont have a place to keep her.

Interesting...

For some reason I can't seem to find any information on the American Long Nose Rottweiler. I even tried checking the AKC registery...They don't seem to have it either but, I guess that since it has the potiental to be registered, then the AKC will add the breed at that time.

I wonder what they are asking for for rare rottie? Nothing like false advertising...Why don't they just say, rottie mix.?

Just my two cents...:D

No such thing!!

A rottweiler is a rottweiler is a rottweiler! :p A badly bred long-nosed one or not. :p It doesn't make it it's own breed because it's so far outside of the standard that it doesn't look like one anymore. :( :p

And the fact that they don't know if she's 30" at the shoulder or 40" at the shoulder tells a HUGE story (both of which are WAY out of the standard). And if she's even 30", at only 75lbs, she would be terribly underweight. :(

My friend has a 9 month old Irish Setter male, who is now 27" at the shoulder and is 72lbs - Very trim and sleek. A Rottie at the same height/weight would be terribly underweight. Just to give you some perspective....

I hate it when people say that:

What the Heck did they think they were getting?!?! A Shih Tzu?!?!?! If you don't want a Rottweiler as an adult, then you don't get a Rottweiler Puppy!!!

Some people. :p

I just hope that someone who actually KNOWS Rottweilers ends up with this dog. Maybe a rescue group from that area will contact them???? *hint*hint*hint*

I wish that poor pup all of the luck in the world. It sounds as if she needs it. :(

30-40 inches tall & 75 pounds at 9 months of age?? Hmmm.....maybe mixed with Afghan hound or some other 'long nosed' breed.

Just for giggles, I'm thinking of calling - I have a friend in Michigan who'll do the job for me - time to send her an e-mail!!

Maybe I'll e-mail them - ask them what the heck a long nosed rottie is, and what breeder told them that!!

Someone call please... I'll restrain myself, I've done enough with the blanket seller, yesterday....:p :p :p

I figure its either:
1. Someone who doesn't know what a full-blooded rottweiler looks like.

2. Or a mix and they just don't realize it.

3. They need glasses period and help...

:p :p :p

I think this sad. I feel bad for the dog. With owners that dumb I'm sure they aren't going to find the kind of home the dog deserves. At least she is spayed.

Dobie?

Are they sure this isn't a Dobie? Sounds way more like a Dobie than a Rottie. Sounds cute, but it sure isn't a "Long-Nosed Rottie".

they said 30-40" to the top of her HEAD. So she's probably 20" at the shoulder

We have a customer who says his dogs is a German Blockhead Rottweiler. Must be the opposite of an American Long Nose Rottweiler eh?

what???

I dont think she is purbred rottie. she would have to be mixed with dobie maybe because of the long nose,
come"on now think about it a long nosed rottweiler? I think not, :o it would have to be mixed. maybe the woman is trying to pass her off as purbred but nah I dont buy it, sorry people.

Bella is likely a purebred--a Rottie bred by a numbnut who hasn't a clue about standards.

At NH Pet Expo this Sat, NERR vols brought the girl they adopted thru NERR. Their girl has a long muzzle, too. She's a Rottie, all right, just the result of garbage breeding.

I'm sure the same can be said for poor Bella because by the tone of the posting made by her family, they don't have a clue, either.

This is an unfortunate dog, I wonder what the people thought they were getting when they got the dog. Somebody forgot to tell them that puppies grow up, and Rotties get big.

I also wonder, since these folks seem to think that they have a papered dog, but the description doesn't fit, did some one run a scam on them. They may have papers, but are the papers genuine.

I hope the best for this misunderstood pet.
