urine odor in carpet

OK, we moved to a new apartment, lots of stress for dogs. All three are house trained, all three have, however, urinated on my brand new carpet

I have nipped this little problem in the bud, back to square one housetraining rules.

What is the best product you have used to get rid of the odor?

I bought "nature's miracle" which I haven't used yet, "odormute" which I did use, but it really didn't do the trick. Both are enzymatic. I also heard white vinegar works very well, and has the plus of being cheap.

I am living a lonely life, since I refuse to have any guests over until this embarrassing situation is remedied:o

"Equalizer", great stuff

Hi Jamie, you're gonna need something that will neutralize the odor and take care of it so it doesn't return. I have very few carpets but people I clean for I have recommended a product in a can called "Equalizer", it's in a white can and can be bought at most vets. It cost in or around 10.00, well worth it I might add. Soak up the spot first with a bunch of rags or papertowels, in a standing position spray the equalizer and blot, do this till the stain is gone and or the smell, but do it alittle at a time, over a couple days if need be. The end result will be worth it and the smell will be gone, not to mention any spots. It's also great for vomit and diarrhea, both of which I already used this product and it worked fantastic. I dog sat our neighbors dog one time for a week and he had horrendous diarrhea that was yellow and green. It took me the whole week to get those stains out but I did it :D. I went over everyday till you could no longer see the stain. Now you can't saturate the spot all at once, that's why it takes several other applications but in the end it will not smell nor will you have a spot. Hope this helps!

oxyclean in my rug shampooer seems to do the trick as well.

I have not tired anything else, but have had success with oxyclean.

Just applied the first application of nature's miracle. It seems to be working already, so hopefully when it's completely dry the problem will be solved. If not, I'll pick up another bottle tomorrow.

That is some serious stuff! I sprayed half my living room and had to open all the windows to breath

I'm so grateful to have found an apartment that would allow all three of my dogs, I'm super paranoid/vigilant about anything that might jeopardize that.

As apartment owners we have become somewhat experts on this one. We use oxyclean in a rug shampooer. Saturate the area, let it sit for a few minutes and then suck it up with the shampooer. Several treatments may be necessary.

If you are in question about the location of a spot, or are unsure that you got them all, use a blacklight to find them. Spots show up under black light.

When smells persist more drastic action is required. Roll back the carpet and use a steam cleaner on the back side, 1/2 the room at a time. Replace the padding, alot of smell resides in the pad, in fact most. Put the whole shebang back in place, (usually need a carpet layer to restretch the carpet) and shampoo the top. This will rid you of all but the most stuborn smells. If this doesn't work your only option is replacement of carpet and pad.

Good luck & happy scrubbing:)

What I do is use the steam cleaner and when the carpet is
completely dry I take a spray bottle and put Natures Miracle
then spray on carpet.

It works great!

Hope this helps.
