| Well, I already responded to RD's thread about what type of brushes to use. I generally run a pin brush over my long haired Rottie every day or two, just to make sure snarls aren't forming and to keep her looking pretty. This usually just takes a minute or two. Her coat is soft and silky, but the hair is not fine and doesn't mat easily like a Cocker Spaniel. She sheds dirt pretty easily, and I probably bathe her 4-6 times per year. In the summer, I clip her with a 1" comb attachment. It leaves her enough hair so she is well protected from the sun, but she doesn't have to wear that big bear coat.
