What do you think of the Pet Psychic?

Has anyone ever consulted a Pet Psychic? - if so what made you consult one and what did he/she reveal to you?

I have never and would never do this. I don't believe in any kind of psychics - I think they are so phony! If they could find things out from dead people or animals , then why do we have so many missing children and pets and unsolved murder cases? Do we have to pay them in order for them to use their powers? Come on! I don't buy it at all! It's just some scam artists taking advantage of vulnerable people that want so badly to believe it's true. I think it is so horrible!

Birdie'sMom, I agree with you. I think this is just a way for some people to take advantage of others. These people KNOW that people's pets are important to them, and they PREY on that.

If there really WAS a psychic, why wouldn't they do their service for FREE?!?!?!?!

Just my opinion. :)

I don't believe in psychics either... I was just curious - it seems that quite a few people are turning to this these days... you are right Birdies Mom... its just preying on those who are desperate to get closure or something...

Well...I haven't consulted one but I do watch the pet psychic on animal planet now and then.

It seems as if she is able to read into peoples body language, comments and feelings very well. Obviously if someone is going there looking for an answer they may elude to that and s/he will pick up on it.

Hey... If it makes you feel better like in grief situations then I'm for it.....what ever floats your boat!;)

I met with a behaviorist/psychic about a year after I adopted Ben...just out of curiousity.

She told me things that *I* knew, but had never spoken to anyone (nicknames I have for the dogs, that I was thinking of getting into Therapy work, etc), and I never filled out any forms or anything prior to meeting with her.

She said Ben was excited about being a Therapy Dog and would be a good dog for doing that job (he is!).

She also told me that Ben was happy with me :D as his mom, and wanted to know why he still had to stay crated while I was not home (he wasn't reliable all day loose in house). She 'explained' to him why he had to be crated.

After our meeting, he began to be more reliable all day out of the crate, and about a month later put it away for good.

I was skeptical at first, but she told me things nobody knew, and that I had not told her about...and I had never met this woman before our meeting.

I think some psychics have a talent somehow, and they know how to use it, but I don't really believe The Pet Psychic is anything real. It's stupid IMO.

My vet actually went to the taping of the Pet Psychic in Washington DC.. he said what they show on TV makes her look really good, because during the actual rehersals she was way way off with her predictions and problem identification. He said, they edited most of the incorrect "stuff' out - so when we see her on TV - it looks like she is spot on - when in fact he said she was really really bad, so bad he said he was embarassed

Last year I was talking to a girl friend that is into dogs, but not showing. She asked what was going on at a big show that was coming up. In the premium it had the usual health clinics, a couple of breed seminars(lots of specialties at this show) and a pet communicator. My friend immediately told me that she would pay for Duncan. I signed two of my dogs up. I don't believe in the communicator thing. I went in with my two dogs and I didn't reveal nothing to her.
She asked their names, ages and if I had any other pets at home. I introduced Misty first, she was six, Duncan was 4 and I had another dog at home. She immediately told me that the dog at home was old- wrong! dog at home was a 5 month old puppy. She then recovered by saying that Duncan was the "old soul" in the house. She told me that Misty didn't want to retire from the show ring- wrong! Misty is 100% pet quality. She doesn't want puppies- good thing she was spayed at 9 months! I asked about what activities she wanted to dog- she said that she wanted to "try" herding and carting- Misty is titled in herding and carting- been there and done that! I asked about her health- especially her joints. Said she was perfectly healthy with no joint problems- Misty has moderate ED and shortly after blew her ACL. Couldn't give me a reason why Misty keeps blowing her stays in obedience.
Next is Duncan. Duncan was very busy sniffing and exploring- completely ignoring the communicator. I figured if I couldn't express myself to humans and suddenly had the chance that my whole attention would be on that human, IMO. She said that he doesn't like the show ring, doesn't like obedience, would like to try SchH. Just looking at Duncan, you could tell he doesn't like conformation or obedience- no stretch there. But SchH!!!! The only time he has protected someone, he used his chest to move the bad guy away- He doesn't know how to bite. She said that he would also like to try herding. The woman didn't learn from Misty- titled in herding- his one love. She also said that he was comfortable with the puppy at home and had no issues with him. What she didn't notice was the hole in his leg that he licked from stress over the puppy. She also said that he would qualify in obedience if I gave him pizza. She was speechless when I asked her what kind.
I did bring pizza to our next obedience trial and ended up eating it myself. So all in all, I wouldn't put much stock in it. It was entertaining in a perverted sorta way:D

Not to say that there are not things in this world that defy rational explanation, but in the normal world ducks and psychics have a couple things in common. They both have two feet, and they both quack.:D but they can be entertaining.

S_____T_____U_____P_____I_____D

as you all may know, i LOVE animal planet...at least when something dog related is on. i really want to be a vet some day so of course i watch emergency vets every chance i get just to see what's going on. i love watching animal precinct also. that's another job i'd love to do if i can't get into vet school. that's my baby, too cute! breed all about it?, learn something new every time. the pet psychic?:o i can not wait for that program to be offed! i can't stand it and can't stand to see the commercials for it. i tried making myself watch it once and just ended up getting mad. it's just so stupid. i'm glad someone finally brought this up on here, i'm always telling my wife how dumb it is and talking trash to the tv when i see it. LOL just my opinion. -kevin

People look for easy answers, pet psychics offer them.

My old neighbors consulted a pet psychic for their boxer. Wanted find out why he barked all the time. They could have paid me to tell them he was bored, needed a heavy dose of "boot camp" and a trainer. Oh, and maybe not to be left in the yard alone all day long. Whatever she told them didn't work a lick.

Hi Janet! I don't know about that Sonia! I watched an episode the other night, and I really couldn't handle it when she got all the way down on the floor, (I'm talking flat on the floor!) so that
the 'sick' poodle could tell her what's wrong! Now c'mon!! The
dog was probably 'sick' from listening to her say 'Darling' every
other word! I think most of us that really 'know' our dogs can
'read' what they're 'saying' without the help of a psychic! I think
its called paying attention to your pet! Now the Horse Whisperer
is another story...

lolol

Kevin, don't candy coat it, say whatcha mean!!! rolling on floor now....

I don't buy into the stuff.... sucker born every minute, HOWEVER,
I have a dear friend that hired one just for grins and giggles....

The woman came out and "read" her mare, (who, by the way was a major pain in the butt kinda horse).... the woman informed my friend that this horse was suicidal, hated her home, hated life...blah blah blah.... my friend sold the mare shortly thereafter (not because of the psychic..) and wouldn't ya know it, the horse killed herself rearing up while tethered on a cement pad (grooming), fell over backwards and broke her neck.....

Coincidence? You decide..... ;)
