| I have used several animal communicators, one of whom is a good friend. I've had good luck with them; however, I haven't used any who advertise and have used either those I know or that are recommended by people I trust. Some of the information received has been quite specific and not anything but myself and/or the dog would know. Nancy

| Nancy... what was the reason you used an "animal communicator" ? how did it help you with your relationship with your dog/animals?

| I've used them for rescue dogs, dogs with health problems, dogs with training problems and also for my old cat who was dying (aged 22). If you can find a good one, they can be very helpful with behavior, health and training problems. A good communicator will make it clear that they do sometimes interpret things based on their own experience. For instance, the animal shows itself watching animals on tv, showing that this is something it enjoys. The communicator might substitute *Animal Planet* as an explanation for what the animal is watching when, in this particular case, the owner could not get that program. The dog in question enjoyed watching animals on TV and not the specific program Animal Planet. A rescue dog I had, whose owners had both died within about 10 days of each other, was a real problem and bit me twice (though didn't break the skin). I was told he was having pain in his neck (checking the medical records later showed he'd been hit by a car when he was younger). Basically he wanted to be left alone (*be the invisible dog*) to recover in his own time from losing his owners. He's now in a permanent home and has become affectionate and responsive. One communicator described an area on my dog's foot that was bothering him; she was quite specific about between which toes, etc. Not only was the information true and very specific, it was something I had not mentioned to anyone as it wasn't a serious problem. | I don't have a TV so I've never seen her. There are charlatans and crooks in every field of endeavor - doctors, ministers, policemen, you name it. As always, it's up to the person seeking a service or product to be as informed as possible. Nancy

| I consulted a psychic when Kaptain was sick, not really believing the whole psychic thing, but did it just in case, I was having a difficult time with Euthanasia and was really kind of desperate. She gave me a very general reading, everything she said sounded right on, but probably could have for 90% of the people in my situation. She did give me advise on some helpful books to read, and also on some herbs that helped me sleep, and she explained Euthanasia to me in detail and helped me with my reservations; I suppose in that respect it was worth the money I paid.

| I think the vast majority of "psychics" of any kind are frauds, either consciously or unconsciously (I'm not willing to say "all" because I accept that it's possible, if unlikely, that there is such a thing as being psychic). I think many "animal psychics" are charlatans who prey on people who are often genuinely trying to help their pets (and whose money would likely be better spent elsewhere). That being said, if the advice the "psychic" ends up giving is valid, I think they can provide a valid service (I strongly suspect that some "pet psychics" are really just behaviourists who know that going new age will earn them a whole new raft of clientele willing to pay good money). I also think that often the psychic helps the owner more than the pet. I've known of people who wouldn't listen to a word a good behaviourist said about their pet, but who took the advice of a psychic as gospel, when the psychic advised the exact same thing as the behaviourist (they wouldn't accept that the dog needed obedience training because it would be happier and less neurotic if it understood what was expected of it, but they whipped the dog into obedience classes right away when "it told the psychic" that it needed to learn to understand English). |
