| Is one year old enough for concrete?? Hi all, I am a runner and would like to have my dog run with me. He will be one year on October 5. Until he was 9 months I kept him on soft turf. Then I started speed-walking with him on the sidewalks in my community. I am anxious to segway into running, but am concerned that his growth plates, joints, etc. are not ready for the pounding on concrete. Thanks in advance for the advice!! |

| It was my understanding that you should not run a dog long distances until 18 months - 2 years of age. There joints, muscles, and plates are still not developed fully at one year to withstand the beating of running long distances. Especially Rotties since Hip problems are so prevelant.
