The topic is dog parks. Maybe the socialization stuff, or lack of, and the reasons why would make an interesting thread in behavior.

I find that the play in dog parks tends to be dominated by retriever types, and that play is generally very rough and tumble. That sort of play between strange dogs jockeying for pack position can often lead to fights. And when a fight breaks out, it is never the Lab that gets blamed, even though 90% of the time it was the Lab that started humping a GSD. I used to bring Mia to dog parks when I first got her, and though she was never involved in any incidents, I've come to the conclusion that there are much better ways for her to socialize with other dogs.

I take Hudson to the dog run once a week. It is the BEST place I've found to do distraction training!

A true challenge for him.

As I said, in NYC, the dog runs operate very well. Here it's a bit different, but if a fracas starts......there Hudson goes, into a long down. It's perfect. :)
