| mischief... A thread on another forum has got me thinking about this. What sort of mischief has your rottie gotten themselves into, with or without help from another? My Smidgen was an only dog but we do have a dervish of a cat and I swear that the two of them worked in concert. Once while I was away on business my husband decided to cook himself some hamburgers and left the package of chopped meat on the stove while he went outside to do something. When he came back in the empty package was on the floor and Smidgen was hiding underneath the sideboard. Since he had put the package at the back of the stove where the dog couldn't reach it I suspect that she had some help getting it down. And I did catch this cat napping on top of a cake that had just come out of the oven once so... (I did later witness the cat knocking things off of the table and onto the floor in front of the dog...Smidgen must have had her on the payroll or something) Also there was the time when Smidgen was a pup and was playing unsupervised with my ex BF's GSD when the two of them discovered that it was fun to play tug with the sofa cushions because they came apart and "snowed" all over the living room. Fortunately it was my exes couch. Ah yes, and the time Smidgen decided to drag a five pound bag of flour into the living room in order to open it up & investigate it (my fault, I shouldn't have left the grocery bag on the floor). God, I miss her! :) Nina |

| One morning while I was making my luch to bring to work, Birdie must have been quietly watching me (I wasn't aware that she had come downstairs - little sneak!) Anyway, I turned around to put the mustard back in the refrigerator and when I turned back around - quick as she is - she had grabbed my sandwhich of the counter and was eating it under the kitchen table! There was also the time when we found her STANDING on top of the kitchen table eating a bag of chips! Sometimes it's just so funny that you can't be mad! (other times - it's not so funny!:D ) |

| My puppy, Roxie got into the toilet, apparently my son did not flush. She pulled out the toilet paper and the other contents and had it all over the bathroom and her face and then came out for lovin. That was the most vile thing! He is supposed to flush, and close the door. He sure does that now! |

| dungeon, so far not much but sneak paper towels out of the trash and the occassional ninja grab of a sandwich. on the other hand, i had a poodle named Bandit growing up. i lived in a 2 story house, my bdrm upstairs. i sprayed some rain repellent on my boots and opened the window for ventilation. i shut my door and all was well. about 30 minutes later my mom, reason unknown, opened my door. later on i walked past my front door and saw people in the street looking up at my house. then a car stopped. i went outside and asked them what they were looking at and they started laughing. i looked up and Bandit was leaning over the edge of my roof! it was too funny. i rushed upstairs while the passerby's waited to catch him in case he jumped. i crawled out of my window and walked around to the front and got him. i'll never forget it. he jumped on my bed and crawled out the window, thank GOD he didn't hurt himself. he was a great dog, i'll see you at the bridge buddy, love you. -kevin

| My rott hasn't really gotten himself into any mischief with people. However he annoys the heck out of the maltese by herding him around the house. Pebbles will be walking somewhere, and all of a sudden Odin decides it will be great fun to not let him get there He jumps in front of him, Pebbles tries to go around him and Odin just keeps moving in front of him and blocking him until I tell him to knock it off. I can tell it is purely fun and quite a game for the boy.The maltese, on the other hand, has gotten himself into a bit of mischief! I'll never forget the time my daughter didn't clear her plate of spagetti from the table. Pebbles came trotting into the living room, with spagetti sauce all over the long, white fur on his face . From under his chin all the way up to his ears! He looked very satisfied with the fact that he hadn't been caught :D

| mischief... One year, our family's wire hair fox terrier ate half the turkey on Thanksgiving eve when we went down town to see the Christmas lights! One family Birthday ( I forget whose!) the same dog helped himself to cake! ( middle of our huge dinning room table that had 2 leave in it) To top it off, the dog licked the frosting off the knife on both sides! Athena, my 6 month old has not had the chance to do this yet, but has lmsot made off with a burger a few weeks ago. I used the evil stare and a firm NO! she stopped just before she hit pay dirt! ( burger in mouth)

| My cat Paul has a talent for getting himself trapped in unlikely places, preferably hanging upside-down. Incident #1, my husband came home early from work one day to find our other cat prancing and meowing nervously, leading him into the kitchen. He then heard a pathetic caterwalling from behind the refridgerator, where Paul had managed to wedge himself upside down in the small space between the wall and the back of the fridge. No injuries, but the vet had a good laugh and remembered his story when he came in for his shots the next year. Incident #2, a different apartment about 1.5 years later. I come home from work to find the other cat again prancing and meowing nervously in front of the bedroom closet, like Lassie trying to get across that Timmy is trapped in a well. The water heater was in that closet, and it was one of the smaller water heaters, about 3.5 feet high. It was installed right against the closet wall in a corner, with a built in wooden shelf above it with about 5 inches of clearance between the shelf and the top of the water heater. The water heater is round and it was in a corner, so there was a small closed off space in the far corner, under the shelf. Of couse, Paul had somehow managed to get trapped in there, upside down, and because the shelf was blocking my access, the only thing I could reach was the very tip of his tail. I was afraid he would die in that hole before I could get anyone to take out the shelf or water heater, so I just grabbed that tail and pulled really hard. I was able to get him out, and he was no worse for the wear. I have no idea what would have caused him to get himself in these predicaments. What a weird cat.

| The first Thanksgiving of my married life I was in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on a large, traditional meal. Our Rott had been watching the process with great interest. The turkey was out of the oven, on a platter on the counter. I was working at another counter with my back turned when I heard a loud thud. I turned around to see the turkey on the floor, and my dog's rear-end as it disappeared through the kitchen door ten feet away. My theory is that she thought she would just help herself to a bite, never intending to pull the whole thing off onto the floor. She returned immediately to the kitchen looking very remorseful. It was funny. |

| Ruby and Sapphire got themselves into quite alot of mischief together. They once ate my husbands entire couch while we were at church- all that was left was the wood and springs (I hated that couch anyway). They also both mananged to get up onto the pool deck and one jumped in and swam circles while the other ran circles around the pool until the neighbor noticed and pulled the one from the pool........we never did figure out which one. They also tag-team dug a hole in their pen in a matter of hours that was over 4 feet deep. Once they escaped while we were grocery shopping by knocking a step ladder over to the fence and climbing over it to get out. They ended up about half a mile away at an elderly lady's house who cooked every box of macaroni and cheese she had to feed them! Thank goodness they outgrew those days. They are both at the Rainbow Bridge and I still smile thinking of the goofy trouble those two got into! Mary |

| LOL Let's see, there was the time I was fostering good old "Ted", the hound mix. My husband and I needed to leave town, and hired an employee of mine to come in and tend to Ted and Pooh while we were gone. Pooh was ok loose in the house, but Ted was to be crated when Tina wasn't there. He was in the crate when I left the house, and I left a two page instruction sheet for Tina to use. Unfortunately, I forgot to specifically mention in the instructions that Ted MUST be crated in her absence. Joe and I came home to about 2 inches of debris littered throughout the downstairs, the furniture was askew, and there was an 8 inch gash in my leather sofa, with Ted greeting us at the door wearing a BIG SMILE. All I could imagine, was that Tina had left Ted out, he started his mayhem, and at first Pooh looking at him like "Oooooooh, you're gonna get it when mom gets home!!!" - then, after Ted not "getting it", she probably chimed in and they had a blast ripping my house apart. It was all I could do to push my husband out the door before he went on a murderous rampage after Ted...lolol. Hubby got over it, and we never asked Tina to watch the pets again.... hehe. Live and learn. Elisabeth p.s. Ted did find a wonderful home, and I strongly advised his new mother to continue his crate training, but never exactly told her why...... ;) |
