| what places have you been turned away from because you own a rottweiler?? we have been to a couple of campgrounds now that wont accept us because we have rottweilers, we have went traveling and some of the tourist places we went to wont allow us in because we have rottweilers, we went to old orchard beach in my state of maine they wont let us take our rottweilrs on the beach because of there breed, we stopped in PA on our way to MD to visit my brother and one of the parks we stopped at they said no rottweiler breeds, when we got to MD we took the girls out to go to the bathroom a cop stopped and asked if we were looking for trouble?? I said no I'm just visiting from maine, I asked him what did I do wrong he said that people come out at this time of night with there rotties to start fighting ( it was 10;00 pm) I said fighting? the cop said yes they send there rotties after people, I was amazed, I couldnt believe it, little to be said I hauled my hiny and my girls hiny back in my brothers house real quick.. so I was wondering if anyone found more and more breed discrimmination around like going camping, or state parks, or on hiking trails things like that, rompinrottie |

| that is absolutely terrible! no, you probably have had more bad experiences alone than everyone i know all together. i haven't been not allowed somewhere but i have heard weird comments. i.e.-at a dog show recently i was with a friend with our rotties out excercising and a woman had her great dane near by and under her breath said something about not getting near that rottweiler. of course i wanted to say something but i didn't hear exactly what she said so i couldn't. i was at a restaraunt paying and the girl asked me about my car and spending money on it. i said yeah right, i spend more money on my dog than anything else. of course she asked what breed and she said, "i had a rottweiler, they're mean!" i responded,"well obviously you did something wrong" and left. the funniest one is this. i was walking dungeon in my neighborhood and a little girl came from behind on a bicycle but didn't pass. i turned around and she still was just riding really slow but wouldn't pass. i thought she lived in the house i was passing and went up the driveway. nope she started walking her bike and wouldn't pass. i turned around again and in her little voice she asked, "does your dog chase?" i thought that was so cute. i said no and she took off at the speed of light. poor thing!

| My wife and I and Tiler and Sammy went to a garage sale this morning. The neighbors loved the dogs and couldn't stop petting them. They were especially impressed with Tiler. One person that was visiting ( not a customer) was scared of Tiler and would not get near my boy no matter how much everyone told him the dog was great. Remember these people had met the dog exactly 10 minutes before this. The guy wouldn't have anything to do with my dog. The neighbor offered me all his stuff at the sale for my dog, i said no. He thru in his wife, I still said no. He then assured me that his wife came with her own car and clothing, and kept house real well, I still said no - his wife clobbered him and petted the dog. Other than that I have not yet been refused admission because of the breed of my boy. I do expect it will happen, there are so many mis=informed people out there and then there's those that are just plain stupid.

| I've never been turned away from anyplace because of my dogs. The resort I go to twice a year allows dogs - with a limit of two. I am the only person allowed to bring 3 and they are all Rottweilers. We are treated like family and welcomed always. Of course we've been going there for many years and they now have known 4 generations of my dogs. Weather permitting, I take a dog whenever possible. They lie in the waiting room at the oil change place, accompany me to the auto supply and hardware stores and now and then go to the department stores if they are not in a mall with a "no dogs allowed" sign. Of course we go to parks and wherever. I have never had a bad response to their presence. Usually the response is to be cornered and told stories and stories about other dogs and can I pet yours, and how did you teach your dog to do xxxxx. I always incorporate a bit of training in our outings. |

| I take Luna everywhere I possibly can and we've never been denied entry or asked to leave. I did have a problem finding homeowner's insurance and was sweating bullets over it, but when the agent came to do a walk-through and met her, it very quickly became a non-issue. :) |

| I try to take my dog as many places as possible. Sometimes we will take an afternoon and hit all the best spots:D I often go to a back isle of the pet supply store and do some training. I've only had one bad experience. We walked into a park, and a bratty 15 yo girl started yelling at me to get my dog out of there. I told her the sign clearly said dogs are allowed in this park. She then proceeded to tell me that THAT dog wasn't welcome. When she threatened to kill my dog I relplied that if she came near my dog or talked to me again, I would call the police. She did neither. In fact, she never came closer than 100 ft.

| I'm afraid I would have called the police immediately. A 15yo child who would threaten an adult in this fashion needs help - Fast. It's not a very big step from threats to action, especially when the threats are basically unprovoked.

| Oh Judi, Then what??:) :) Watch the little darlin run away...LOL.. I can see it now, all her little friends laughing at her. One of my favorite places is the outdoor flea market. Lots of people, good smells, and usually very friendly.

| Shybird, that's what it was too, big talk in front of friends. My threat to call the police was pretty much a bluff; the unincorporated town we were in has no police station, and I don't have a cell phone. Had she continued I would have just left. Anyway, no harm done in the long run, I certainly didn't take her threats personally. I feel more sorry for a child with such issues than I do angry:( The anger is generally reserved for the parents.

| So far we have not had a problem taking Brodie places. He especially loves Petsmart and when we go to the dog park he's the one that always greets anyone that comes in after us. Some people don't know what to think of him at first, but after they get to know him they all love him and comment on what a nice pup he is. I have heard though, that when the Chicago White Soxs have their dog days of summer game(or whatever they call it) when dogs are allowed into the park with owners to watch a game they have stated that absolutely NO Rottweilers or Pit Bulls are allowed at this game. Also, one of the gals from the dog park has a Rott/Lab mix named Clifford and she was walking him one day and this man told her that he never wants to see her walk down "His" street again with "That" dog, all the while Clifford was just lying on the sidewalk with his head on his paws, wagging his tail, and looking up at the guy. Clifford has the coloring of a Rott, but he is the size of a small lab. Jaime

| So far, nothing like that has happened. I did notice a big difference when I took Makita to Petsmart vs. a smaller store which is closer to our house. They also allow pets, but looked less than thrilled that we were in there... AT the time I only went there for the sale on Science Diet and I haven't went back since then, (I don't feed her that now anyway)... At petsmart, they really do accept your animals and ask questions about them. Makita gets more milkbones at drive thru's... she gets them at Walgreens, some fast food joints, and some others... I think that is nice they do that for dogs. The only negative comment I had so far, that really pissed me off, was at a fast food place.. the lady looked at her, and here Makita just wanted her usual treat she had gotten there before, and the lady said "boy she looks like she's ready to bite someone's head off" I said NO, she is used to getting a treat from some OTHER nice people here.... Shes a GOOD girl... I have to say this town is pretty accepting compared to listening to some of your other cities, (knock on wood)... I just wish I could take her to work...

| Recently the campgroud we were having a small family reuion didn't want our dogs. When we called to make reservations we told them we were bring three dogs, when they found out they were rotties, they then only allowed one dog per campsite and less then 40 pounds. Once there we saw lots of dogs of all sizes and quantities. Since we traveled all day we were not going to risk it- could be those others did. Didn't see any rotts tho. I have been asked to leave the outdoor eating area of a restraunt that advertised on their website that they allowed dogs outside. I refused to budge- they ended up taking our order and serving us. Carmel by the Sea in California has at least a dozen restraunts that go out of their way to welcome dogs. The Cypress Inn there is very nice place to stay with your dog too. The only slight inconvience is the dog has to be with you at ALL times- no leaving in the room. Judi, where is this resort?
