| Places you like to go with your dogs I'd like to know where you take your dogs when you go out? Are there people here that take their pups into stores other than stores like PetSmart? Are you allowed to take your dog into other shopping stores? Someday when I get my pup, I'd like to take her with me to many places for socialization. The only places to go to be with people are the parks and to training sessions. This doesn't seem like enough, but many places don't allow dogs nowdays. It would be interesting to see where you take your dogs for socialization! Lisa |

| I yake Tiler to Petsmart and Petco often, even when we don't need anything. It's a great place for him to learn social skills with people and dogs alike. I take him to Home Depot, again he gets to meet new people and get used to machinery and other noises and things you don't find at the pet stores .I take him to work with me almost every day. I'm a self employed contractor, so the boss loves the dog as I do. My customers love him after they get over the initial shock of this big dog . He eats it up:D.Most of the time you can get the dog into most stores or locations that won't have an issue with shed hair. That automatically lets out food stores and clothing stores. Of course this is all in addition to freinds and familys homes, parks, and around the neighborhood. Good Luck and have fun with it.

| I take my three everywhere I go! When I have to leave them at home I feel guilty! A few of my dogs favorite places to go is Petsmart, the park, home to see my parents and their dogs, to work with me (I work at a vet clinic), to the bank drive up (the tellers know all three dogs by name and give them treats), and to McDonalds drive up (they always seem to get a fry)......so...for the most part, my dogs go everywhere I go!:D Sara

| Home Depot huh? I don't think that the one in my town would allow pets. That is great though!!! I take Irie to petsmart, Petco and the place where we buy her canidae too. She always runs errands with me...to the bank, dry cleaners, video store. Her favorite place to go is DQ!!! We get ice cream every sunday. The children sure enjoy seeing my 4 legged kid licking her ice cream cone. Some people OF COURSE give dirty looks like "why on earth do those people have a dog here" We just smile really big at them so that they feel stupid :D We go to the frisbee golf course and she helps her dad find his discs. There are always lots of folks w/ other dogs there. I take her to the bike path for walks and of course the park. She has lots of friends that she gets to go and visit and the fur kids play together and we get grown up time. LOL Beef a roo drive thru....they give treats, and just about everywhere else possible. I once saw on the food network a place that has a patio and dogs are welcome...they even have food for them on the menu...That's my kinda place. Anyone else see that episode of "the best of" ????

| Yep, Home Depot. I often saw other dogs there especially on weekends, so I just started taking Tiler there. I never thought to ask as I had seen other dogs there often, and not just at the one here close to home, all over town. Now I just need to train him to take his own purchases to the counter in these stores, as long as he can't apply fopr a credit card.:D

| Almost everywhere Makita goes to Petcetera and other small pet stores with us...she just loves to watch the fish !! We met her 'brother' from an earlier litter thru one very involved pet store. That was way cool ! We have 3 children between the ages of 8 and 13 so Makita goes lots of places where there are lots of kids. As long as they don't have wheels attached, she is totally fine with kids. The wheel thing is something we are working on. The waterfront walkway is a favorite spot to take her, loads of dogs and people of all shapes and sizes go there. And in a couple of weeks she is going to Doggie Day Care cuz daddy is going hunting and I work full time. Heh, I called the daycare and my co-worker said she thought I was looking for care for my child.....heh, I WAS !! |

| Wow, I didn't know you all took your dogs to so many places! :D I think it's great that these places will allow you to bring your dog. I've never seen any dogs in our Home Depot's here. Sounds like a great idea. It seems like I find myself running to Wal Mart a lot. I wonder if they allow dogs? I saw a lady carrying a puppy the other day. I've never seen any full grown dogs in there, so I don't know if it's allowed. My guess is probably not. Any of you know? :p |

| Walmart here carries food products, that alone would make taking a dog in there a violation of the health codes. Not only that but they have a real problem with shed hair on the new clothes that they want to sell people. Personally, I can't understand that. Doesn't everyone have shed hair on their clothes, it would make it so much better if it came on the clothes when I bought them, maybe then it wouldn't be so noticeble;)

| If it is not posted, you don't ask, just go. Make sure you are dressed decently, put your dog in a nifty heel position and move in a business like manner. Act like you own the joint. When you get to the part of the store you want to find something in, put dog in down stay, select your purchases. By this time, everyone who might have some reservations are reassured and calmed down and then you can do the social thing if you choose. That has always been my method and it works just fine. If you are hesitant, or ask first, you'll likely be told no. I've never been asked to take the dog out or leave. |

| Barnes and Nobel lost my buisness and recomendation because they didn't want my dog in there. Oddly enough the book I was going to get was for her. Living with a Deaf Dog. So I asked them where their sign was and where the food was that my dog wasn't supposed to be near. I like the other bookstore anyway. I know not to bring her in there because there are also clothes and food. Of course the fact that my girl does lift her leg(I didn't know that at the time,I literally just adopted her) they probably did me a favor by kicking us out but that is beside the point! |

| One note about Home Depot. If you bring your dog expect to get much more help in finding things you need. The workers always seem to go out their way to come and to pet the dogs. It is a great experience with different distractions for your dog. Oh and some of the cashiers have treats for the dogs. I would advise checking before hand though I have been turned away at one store but three others around me have had no problems with bringing your dog. |
