strange question .........

who are you leaving your rottweilers to in your living will? if you have one?? I have a living will and I dont know who I am leaving my 4 girls to. what should I do?? yes its a morbid thought, and Im sorry for that, but I dont know of anyone good enough to take care of them as good as they deserve.. :( there so use to being treated like queens, and loved so much, I have never raised my voice to them, they are so spoiled so it bothers me to who I will leave them to? that will continue with the same quality of care that they have now. any Ideas?

You want to find someone who knows them and likes them. Preferably not someone who already has their home full of dogs. sometimes it is a family friend, or family member. Sometimes you need to look at multiple people as there are good homes who could take one dog, but not more.

i never even thought of that. i feel the same way. i don't think i know anyone that would take care of my baby the way i do. i love him so much. i guess i would leave him to a good friend that knows me, my dog and how i treat him. that way even if the friend can't take him they would be able to determine who could take care of him the way i do.

I'm leaving my loved ones (!) with my son. Obviously he won't treat them as well as I do, nor love them the way I will. But he will know them, know what they're used to, and all the really essential details of their behavior and their lives. I guess I'm lucky to have a son. I've already spoken to him about this. And I regularly remind him ;) . Although he's just a tiny weany bit jealous of the love and attention I lavish on my 'pets', he really loves them too and treats them really well when I'm not there to see. They all just adore him. Obviously I won't be around to see, but I think it's a clear understaning that if he can't take them for one reason or another, they'll take a trip across a bridge and we'll all be together.

I've thought about this morbid issue before, too. Although I'm in my 20's, you never know. Luckily, my mom is a huge animal lover with many of her own pets. She'd take our crew in in a heartbeat and never ever consider putting them in a shelter. Same goes for her animals coming to our house- God forbid, but it's very reassuring to know that your beloved pets won't be sitting in a shelter. We've talked about it before. I've always felt bad for the people who aren't lucky enough to have a family member or close friend that they can rely on to take care of their pets. I know certain rescue groups and sanctuaries, like Best Friends (I think?), have programs where you can leave your pets in their care for a certain fee. Then you know they'll be taken care of the rest of their lives.

I am leaving mine with

I only have Kizmet right now, but all of my dogs will be left to my mother, and if my mother cannot take them then all of my dogs will be left with Kizmet's breeder whether she bred them or not. Because I trust her to take care of them the way I do and love them as well, I trust her to either keep them with her for the rest of their lives or rehome them in a suitable home that I would approve of, she was my breeder first, but now she is my best friend. In the result of death I have stipulations in my life insurance policy that $10,000 goes to each dog (only one right now) the insurance money is to provide for their food and vet care for the rest of their lives. Should my mother or my breeder rehome the dogs the money goes with them to their new home, the potential new homes are not to be told about the trust for each dog until they have been screened and have shown a genuine love for my baby, that way no one has to deal with someone who is just after the $. Anyway thats my plan hope you come up with something that works for you.

Both my husbands family and mine are big dog lovers. The only thing that might vary slightly is who is in a better position at the time of our (DH, DD; me) demise. Right now I would say My brother, DH's son, and S-I-L, would be the top three...believe me this has been discussed at length! I still have another brother & sister, and DH has a brother. If all of these (6) are unable, and the adult neices and nephews run out, we still have my friend Phyllis and the breeder, both of whom would take Sable in a heartbeat. The cocker is good for all except maybe the breeder, since he didn't come from her.
It's good to have a plan, though. I'm glad someone brought it up as not everyone thinks of these things, beforehand, as we obviously should.

Ben was adopted from NERR by myself and my husband. In the event that neither of us is able to care for him, he goes back to NERR, per the adoption contract.

Although I KNOW alot of folks that'd LOVE to have him, maybe they should apply to adopt and just sit and wait.....and wait.....and wait...he's not going anywhere anytime soon, that I guarantee :D

If I had anything to leave my dog, I would...all I have to give him is everything I give him daily...love, protection, food, love, attention, love, training, shelter, love....I know he's in good hands should I ever leave this earth.

My will does address my pets and how I would want them cared for and by whom. I also appointed a very trusted friend to be in charge of this and to make sure that the animals are cared for.

As with RottimomCT, I adopted one of my dogs from NERR and so if my husband and I couldn't care for her, by contract she would have to go back to them, although my youngest brother has said that if anything happened to us, he would apply to adopt her. My older dog was not an NERR dog. My neighbor and best friend has agreed to take him should anything happen to us. We see her everyday when we walk, the dogs stay there when I am away; and both dogs love her and her husband.

One other thing I had written into my will was that under no circumstances whatsoever should any animal that I own or have control over be placed with any type of laboratory or other organization that does testing of products on animals. I don't remember exactly how it was worded, but I wanted to be 100% clear that my animals not end up in a research facility.
