New Female Pup Male House

Well I have my breeder and I'm awaiting my pup won't be here for about six months maybe but I just wanted to ask what is a good way to introduce a female into a house full of males. My male boxer is Nuetered and my male will be because of some problems he's had with his ACL and other things. The last female I had was about six years ago and she was already their when I got the other boys. I want to do it right now I know to introduce them outside nuetral place but any other tips on introduction and bring a female into a male dominant household. Of course she will be spayed way to many pups in the world now looking for a home. My males get along great my boxer is about 6 and the rottie will be 4. I am getting her from a great kennel out of Balou so I am hoping for the best. Any Suggestion would be appreciated since I have only owned males living together I have always felt females were a problem because they are truly serious dogs my last female nearly killed my two males and they were nuetered she just had enough of their ruff housing and went to whooping tail and they paid the price.

Just my 2 cents... but I would think that since it's a puppy, the males will be more accepting of her (since she is just a baby:) )

I would introduce each male seperatly to the pup (that way the pup won't feel overwhelmed and the adults won't fight over it), and have them on leashes. Have a friend hold the pups leash (so the male won't feel like he has to compete for YOUR attention, and you can let them sniff each other.

This has worked well when I've introuduced dogs together (mostly adults)

Having brought puppy bitches in to my home more than once, I can tell you what problems you might expect to encounter. The puppy bitch, getting ready for real life will usually start by putting on her apron and telling the boys what her expectations are.

The boys stand around and say:

"eek, ohhh, ooohh, she's touching my feet! My actual personal feet!!!!"

"Ohhhh, help, she's sniffing my pee pee - what if she tries to nurse on it?"

"help, help, help - she's licking my back teeth, somebody get her out of my mouth".....

"help, help, help"

That's about it! Enjoy.

Judi,

I have read your post several times, and it still hits me the same way.

It is so funny, thanks for a few chuckles.

Judi, great post! And the TRUTH! That little girl will be ruling the house in no time! :p

On a more serious side, when you do introduce them, if your boys are normally quiet and well-mannered, I would introduce them one on one, no leashes involved. You normally find that if you have a well-manned dog to start with,he will listen to you if you talk to him more so than if you are pulling on his leash when the little puppy is jumping all over him, which is a good possibility.

Or, she may be a bit submissive for the first day or so. After that, watch out! It will be a fun time for you. The boys may not like it as much, but they can and will learn how to deal with it.

Glad you enjoyed. and yes, it is true. I've always owned males - they are a fondness of mine and even my very toughest ones went through that with any addition of a puppy bitch. I particularly remember hearing some serious noise from my hardest guy and when I peeked over the table to see what was going on, here was this little bitty bitch on top of his head with one of his ears pulled up so she could examine it and make sure it was clean enough. Another time she was pushed in his mouth checking his molars. He was perturbed as these serious sounds of his and his general status had always worked in the past but not with any puppy bitch.

I don't know why the fuss about their very precious private feet either, but the puppy will touch the feet, and the dog will pull them back and the pup will touch them again and the dog will pull them back or maybe run away. I know the boys are quite vain about their feet and their balls........... and it does them little good because those darn puppy bitches will touch WHATEVER they want and the boys just have to get used to it.

Well,

I will have to post when our bitch puppy comes home.

Cam has no balls, but he sure has feet!

I think it will go fine.

Judi, your post made me laugh. It's true! It's true!

My friend, Phyllis has a 4 (I think) year old male, huge, big and tough looking...but a gentleman in reality. My then 9 month old bitch intrudes on anything that most gentlemen would consider personal and private.

She had nearly her entire head inside his mouth checking the molars way in back. All he could do was grumble, and it WAS his very best fierce grumble that would have sent many a dog scurrying away with a frightened "yip!"

She takes HIS ball, and chews on HIS bone, plays with his feet, (he used to hate even humans to touch his feet) cleans his ears, and snifs his nether area, as boldly as if she owned every particle. He glances around for help and loves every minute of it!

Enjoy watching your boys 6 months from now, when she begins her take-over! Yep! She'll start in pretty much right away. ;) It'll have you in stitches!:D :D Be sure to write back and let us know how it goes.

No, you were right the first time, I was talking about those shinny black balls the boys are so proud of and tend to polish late in the evening.

Do you think these poor boys ever wonder if they disappeared from all the licking? Well (he thinks) if I keep licking hard enough, they might darn well come back... :p

:D :D Alas! Poor Remmy (my friend Phyllis' Rottie) is neutered. But if they were there, she'd be pushy about THAT too! Ask Sampson, her American Bulldog friend! He'll tell you what an intact male has to say! A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
