a rose by any other name...

I'd say I named him Killer because he is so sweet that
he breaks hearts. When I was little our neighbor had
a Doberman who was named Missy...it didn't matter to
me what they called her, I was scared to death!

The only other thing I'd like to add on the subject is this - it is completely up to the owners of any dog what they name their pet. Personally, I couldn't care less from Killer to George. I just want to say that I personally will never name my dog anything that might be misconstrude as a LABEL rather than a name by people that are truly uneducated about our breed.

We, as Rottweiler owners, MUST be very conscious of how we raise and train our dogs, where we walk them, what type of collars we buy for them, etc... I would hope that the least of our worries be how people react to their names. Unfortunately, with this breed at present time, we have to be very careful because there is always someone waiting around the next tree for our dogs to screw up so they can run to the news and say 'I told you so!!!'.

It's important to remember that we want people to accept our dogs for the loving things that we know them to be. Uneducated people might be far more accepting of a dog named 'Bo' than to a dog named 'Killer'.

My mom always told me to give my dogs people names. Then you don't feel like an idiot standing on the porch calling Snowy in August. My first dog was a pomeranian named Linda Rottenpup.
