Do you let your dog sleep in your bed with you

I have always let my dogs sleep with me. They are only allowed up when invited. My friends think i'm crazy to let two big dogs on the bed with me.

What about you guys?

No, for one theres just not enough room, and two, although we have a good-natured girl, I don't want her "claiming" something that is not hers. She is perfectly happy sleeping on her couch out in the front room.

Although, I might feel different if I were a single lady....she would at least sleep in the room on the floor...:D

Yeppers - Ben is right up there with us, actually sleeps in between me and hubby. If hubby's snoring is keeping me awake and I move out to the couch, Ben usually follows me out there (to keep me safe?!?!).

Nights when hubby is working, Ben will sleep on hubbys side of the bed, but facing the doorway, to alert me to anyone coming in the door (??). Usually, he's laying on his side, legs facing hubby's side of the bed....I usually sleep with my back against Ben's.

SOMETIMES, hubby is lucky enough to wake to Ben's fannie facing him :o ....

We started allowing Ben on the bed after he hurt his shoulder jumping off our deck...Mom wanted to keep him comfy during his recuperation. He's allowed up while we're there by invitation, but is on the bed when we're not home. He'll wait for me to tell him "OK" before jumping on....

Irie is ONLY allowed on the bed w/ an ivitation and ONLY if she stays laying down. The second she starts licking us and moving around she gets the "OFF" I have a really hard time falling to sleep, even the hubby only gets to spoon for a while then he gets cut off too LOL:D Irie is too young (8mos) to sleep in bed w/ us. She sleeps in her crate. First thing in the morning though we get her up and let her hop in for a while for some snuggles.

Our two are allowed up when invited, which they love! Sometimes we'll let them stay up with us if we're just taking a nap, but there's not enough room for all of us for the whole night! They have crates in our bedroom that they can go in if they choose, or they sleep on the floor next to the bed. I think it's fine as long as they know it's a privilege, not a right and they respect that it's by invitation only! :)

Well......now that I'm a single lady, I've sure missed my husbands snoring and hoggin' the bed! Perfect solution, the rotties girls now sleep with me! Elsa keeps my feet warm and Hannah keeps my back warm! The 2 of them snore very softly. It sure helps me sleep too!:D

Nope, doggies sleep on dog beds on the floor of the room. Mia has been invited up a few times, and she has slept with me when my husband has been away on business. But she hogs the bed, snores, sheds, and then gets restless in the middle of the night and walks around, licks me, etc. Generally, she is a big pain in the butt!

No, but I've been known to share HER bed when she needed me. (Stressed over e-collar, due to spider bite) <sigh>

But what about your dog?:D :D - Lisa (Bucky's Mom)
BTW - Bucky has his own double size bed next to mine - the room looks like a barracks but he is comforatable!;)

We allow our 9 yo chocolate lab Sienna to sleep in our bed. However, we do not allow our 15 month old rottie Phoenix to sleep in our bed. He sleeps on the floor in our bedroom (on an oriental carpet.

It's been interesting to watch him learn the rules. Of course at daybreak, he wants to play and starts licking us and putting his front paws up on the bed. That starts my day, so he gets the result he desires. But he has only tried to get fully up on the bed 2 or 3 times in the 9 months he's lived with us- and been promptly sent off the bed. Perhaps if we had a king instead of a queen size bed, we would have let him join us.

When hubby leaves for work sometimes I invite Harley up. Only by invite only.

thoradopter- When Harley is ready to get up for the day the licking fest starts too. Same thing with the paws. Sometimes that huge paw will hit the face. Ouch! He tries to be gentle but you know there is only so much grace in a 5 1/2 month rottie:D
We call him our little rooster because he will go through the house and wake everyone if he can. Sometimes it comes in handy:p

Luna gets to sleep where she wants :D In the winter, she sleeps on the bed and in the summer she sleeps on the floor right inside the doorway to my bedroom. When she was so sick and very weak, I put an ottoman next to the bed and helped her up because she didn't have the strength to make the jump. Once she figured out the double-hop technique and gained a little strength back, she could manage it on her own. When she wants to get on the bed she always asks if it's okay by walking up and resting her head on the edge of the bed and looking at me with those eyes. As soon as I say, "Okay, jump!", she pops on up. She sleeps at the foot of the bed and isn't a bed hog at all. :)

Nope but that is just our personal choice.:D We know plenty of people who do allow their dogs to sleep on their beds. Our parents included.:D
