I wouldn't let Leader on the bed if he wanted to (which he doesn't. when I used to let him up on the bed he'd stay for 30 seconds exactly before jumping off!)...He's much too strong minded and dominant. he can't even sleep anywhere near a doorway or a door. he sleeps in a corner of the living room, when he sleeps inside. Right now, summer heat i suppose, he's gone back to marking his territory so...since i can't catch him at it HE4S OUT! But I LOVE my DOG:D

Hey German, I'm with you on this one!

The bedroom (not to mention the bed) is our own. And in a full house of kids and dogs, it is going to stay that way!

One word: OUCH!

The crate and Sade CDs both have their appropriate uses and (thankfully) I know when to use each.

;) LMAO, funny thread

Well, now you'll all think I abuse my dogs. Hubby lets the dogs in the house with a few rules. One of those is ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ON THE FURNITURE pretty much in that tone of voice. He grew up in a family where dogs stayed outside. However, we didn't need the dogs to put an end to nice intimacy in our own room, the 4 year old human did that :p

No dogs on the bed or furniture

We don't allow our dog onto the furniture, no exceptions. Never have, never will. The Rottie we have now, Xev, came to us at 18 months - give or take - and sneaked up onto our king sized bed a few nights early on. It was cute but we don't approve due to the leadership issues. So off she went to her own very comfy 6" thick foam mattress bed and her own quilt. She has two of these now - one in the our room at the foot of our bed and another in our Living Room so she can relax while we do. She adapted to this very well, and has only tried the sofas a few times. It seemed to be related to her very slight anxiety over being left alone [now resolved completely as trust was built].

Being a sound sleeper, she isn't restless or active at night. She goes to sleep when we do and snores all night along in her own bed or sometimes on the floor next to my side.

What I do allow is her patented morning snuggle up. She gets us up promptly between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m., the comes over to wake me up. This includes her shoving her head into my armpit for a nice warm snuggle, then rolling up onto the bed itself, her head landing right next to mine. She'll then sniff and sigh happily, roll on her back for a pet [her FAVORITE in the whole world] and if I fall back asleep, she'll stay put and snore too. When I then get up, she'll pop up and go outside and do her business and come in for more morning play time, snuggling and kisses and hugs. I don't think she's entirely submissive either - she loves love but can be stubborn and dominant when around anyone but me. SHe knows I'll kick her *** if she gets out of line.

hee
