| Male or Female? I have a two year old female and I am thinking of getting another Rott. What sex should I get and does it matter? |

| Rescue?? A male would do well with a female... this is the best combination and what we recommed in rescue. Have you thought about adopting a rescue??? Most legitimate rescues to temperment evaluations, vaccinate, spay/neuter, HW test and fecal test for a very resonable fee. Please save a life:) Gina

| It's generally believed two of the same sex Rotties do not get along well. So if you have a female consider a male, I guess. Personally, I did not find this to be true. Jasmine was 6 when we brought our 8-9 week old little Sable home. Unlike the neutered male Cocker who adored her from the start, Jasmine would make her way upstairs to be alone. It took her approximately 2 weeks before she decided to remain down with the rest of the family and play with the puppy. Maybe she figured the pup would go away if she ignored it? They soon became fast friends and all three would take a short nap together on the same dog bed when the pup tired. Sadly, after a few months, Jasmine left to be with her family who'd moved to Fla. a year and a half earlier. By the time Jazz left, we could see Sable would be second in command after the Alpha-Cocker. Perhaps this made a difference? I should perhaps mention that at NO time did Jazz ever growl at or otherwise be anything but gentle with the pup, who BTW celebrated her 11th month birthday yeasterday!

| My vote is for a male. It is true that dogs of the opposite sex tend to get along better. I had a male rottie and a female German shorthair pointer. I rescued a female rottie. It was the two females that had the problem. Now, everything is fine. And, yes, please do rescue! It is so rewarding and there are so many lovable rotties out there that need forever homes! Sara

| As the others have posted, I also recommend a male for your girl. In addition, please consider rescue to save a life. We adopted a rescue whom we love dearly.....it's so rewarding. Good luck in your search!

| HI, When I wanted to add another Rottweiler member to my family, it was recommended to me bc I have a dominent female to get a male puppy, which is what I did. My female was a little jealous in the begining but now they do very well together, she is the Alpha of the 2 and he accepts it, so it worked out great for us. I'd say go with a male...;) |
