What a cutie! She does seem small, but I can only go on my pesonal dogs weight. I got Harley at 9 weeks and he was a roly poly bundle of fur. I would just make sure and have her checked by your vet, feed her quality food and she will grow FAST! There are others on here that know WAY more than I and I'm sure they will have great advice.

Enjoy your new girl! It will be fun watching her grow! Welcome aboard.:)

Shelby is rather cute! Enjoy her as she grows. She does seem a bit small. I checked Sable's records and she was 10.5 lbs at 8 wks. Feed a premium dog food for large breeds, hopefully your breeder started her on one already. She should be eating about 4x/day for the time being. In a few months you could go to 3x and eventually 2x.
Sable is 10 months now and is at 23 inches, 67 lbs. I'm pretty sure that's average and where she should be. A male, of course, should be slightly larger.

she seems kinda bony, the person i got her from didnt intend to breed her dog, but she is purebred, she was throwing up a little of her food, so i went to 4 small feedings per day, im gonna see how it works, and im gonna call my vet tommorrow to see what they say, her mother was about 120 lbs

>to 4 small feedings per day,

Their tummies are pretty small so "overflow" happens.

>im gonna call my vet tomorrow to see what they say, her mother was about 120 lbs.

Always best to keep a vet involved. A 120 lb mother is a bit heavy. Females generally run smaller (70-90 lbs) and shorter (22-25 in) Whatever...love your little Shelby! Give her lots of training and time in your life and you'll have a great pet! Enjoy your baby!

:) :) :D :D :D :) :p

We were visiting the litter that I'm getting my female from and they are 23 days old and weighed between 4-5 lbs (at 3 weeks). Considering there are 12 of them they are not lacking in the food department...

shag,

She is adorable and it is often hard to tell if a weight is right over the net. But Im going to be blunt. She does not look healthy. Her hair looks like it is loosing in patches and her tummy is somewhat puffy which could be worms which also in return can cause low weight. Has she been cheacked out by a vet yet?

All dogs hold different weights but by the pictures and the weight you say she is at. I think she may need a good lookover by a professional.

hey CPR got any pics? She seems real healthy and tehyre are not patches of hair missing i think that had something to do with the way the pic was taken. She will see the vet at the end of the week. I was thinking that maybe the people lied about her age bc she seems so small. It looks like she is filling in a little bit more, i will only have had her a week thursday, also anyone else with pics of an 8 week female please post.
