For those living in the US, there is a new group starting up for the purpose of:
"This group's primary purpose is to establish and develop a coalition to educate the Insurance Industry about responsible dog ownership. The ultimate aim is to create a criteria acceptable to insurance companies to help alleviate the difficulty in obtaining and retaining Homeowners insurance for responsible dog owners. We will explore using existing obedience venues (CGC, BH, CD titles etc.) and approaching the various national insurance organizations for support. The majority of homeowners in the US own dogs, representing a large marketshare. Through intelligent and responsible discourse, we want to wade through the bureaucratic murk, and present a supportable platform to those insurance carriers who want our business. "
