| Boarding 11 week old pup questions I have tried to find a boarder for my eleven week old pup since we are going to be gone a week next week but the vet office said he needs all of his puppy shots before they'll board him. Does this go for all boarding kennels or just vet offices that board dogs and cats? He will be getting his third set of puppy shots this week and the vet said he will need one more after this set. Has anyone here ever tried to board a pup of this age and if so what did you do to solve the problem? If we can't board him we'll take him with us but this is a last resort because the relatives we'll be staying with have four dogs of their own and I'm not sure what the other dogs reception will be to him. I greatly appreciate any information someone can give me on this subject.:) |

| I would contact his breeder. With him gone from home such a short time that would be a familiar place to him and I assume responsible. |

| I would but his breeder is in washington state and we're in Indiana right now. |

| Have a Great Time I would bring the puppy along - a week is a long time - I would be afraid that whatever I had accomplished thus far would backslide out the window - nobody but you will be as dilligent with potty training and teething issues - I would hate to come back and start ALL over again - if the other dogs are a problem - could you stay in an inexpensive motel nearby? - Lisa (Bucky's Mom)

| Alaskan, I'm sure you understand that vets and boarding kennels are only doing you and the pup a favor by not accepting him so young and without all of his puppy shots. His immunity towards all of the really ugly dog diseases is still questionable at his young age. Since your breeder would have been a good choice, but is not feasible, is their a family member or close friend that would watch him for you? Offer this person the same amount of $ you would have spent boarding the dog as an incentive if they are hesitant. When my pup was still too young to go all day without a potty break during my hours at work I paid my neighboor to take her out a couple of times during the day while I was at work. It was a happy arrangement. Good luck

| Thanks everyone for the quick replies.:) I'm sure now that we'll just take him along so he doesn't lose any of his housebreaking and we can hopefully keep him on his routine so there won't be any problems when we return.:) |
