| Speaking as a member of the "Buys Way Too Much Stuff For the Dogs" Club, I'll just say that Sebastian has an adjustable nylon collar for his tags. I have nothing against the leather ones (he has one "on reserve," but the nylon was a gift and the colors and pattern look great on him. Since the weather is warm and he goes swimming frequently, the nylon holds up better.
I had a couple of slip/choke collars when he was younger -- I prefer Herm Sprenger over other brands. He also has his prong collar for training.
When we go hiking and he wears his pack, he wears a Halti instead of a regular round-the-neck collar so that the leash doesn't interfere with the pack. He still wears the buckle collar with his tags, but the leash is attached to the Halti. Sebastian also wore the Halti at DogFest (a growing local event -- lots of demos, fun games, education, and good exposure for local rescue groups) this afternoon. Because he's been through several levels of obedience training and is used to busy places with lots of other dogs, the Halti works well for him. I wouldn't recommend it as an alternative to training, or a "quick fix" to stop a dog from pulling/lunging.
