Is she the runt?

Our Makita is 16 weeks old today. We contacted the breeder when only one pup was left in the litter. Since we only wanted a pet, we weren't concerned with 'pick of the litter'. We had enough info about the breeder to trust we would get a good dog. But, at the vet clinic we go to, two of the doctors have asked if she was the runt. I'm not sure if I want to ask the breeder that and my question to all of you is "Does it matter if she was the runt?" Are there medical or tempermental issues we should be aware of? She is an awesome dog, so smart, but since she's our first rottie we aren't sure if she is 'normal' At obedience class there is another rottie one week younger and TWICE her size. Thanks for your interest.

runts

both of my rotties are the runts of the litter.mostly it's just that they are the smallest when young, but MOST of the time the runts turn out to be the bigest dogs,my female is 100lbs,& all of her sisters are 75-90lbs.but her bros, are all over 100lbs,.my puppy was the runt he is now the same size as his mommy, but is about 95lbs,lol big baby.don't worry about asking the breeder, it means night other then that the puppy you got was the smallest.(sometimes the runt is smarter as well,& most the time alot tougher seeing as how the runt is always picked on,lol)enjoy your puppy!

My runt, 20-month-old Daisy, is 85 pounds and 26" tall. That's a helluva big runt! She looked like a gerbil and weighed barely 10 ounces at birth, two sisters were 12+ and the boys were 14 to 16 ounces. She's now bigger than her sisters and smarter than her brothers. Runts Rule! :D
