dangerous dogs ? / need help

hi everyone....does anyone know of a list or exactly what breeds are considered dangerous or vicious? unfortunately our beautiful breed is on the dangerous list, but i need to know what other breeds are also on that list. i am writing a letter to my state senator and also a letter to the editor of our local newspaper. a little boy was killed a couple weeks ago when he wandered into a neighbours yard where there were 5 pitbulls. the 1 year old male pitbull attacked the little 2year old boy and he was killed. it was so sad and my heart went out for this family. the owners of the dogs had only had this male for 1 day, (he was chained to a tree outback) now the senate is trying to pass a bill that charges dangerous dog owners $500 a year. a fine of $2000-25,000, if the dog bites someone, and the owner gets charged with murder if the dog kills someone. the problem i have is the $500 a year just because i chose to own a rotti! i did a lot of research on this breed before i purchased mia and she is hardly dangerous! i did not want a rotti for a status dog. the money is not the issue, its the principle! i understand getting vicious dogs under control, we have a lot of pitbulls in the city, however they are not all vicious. the owners need to be responsible. my cousin was 2 when his head was ripped open by a husky, he had 230 stitches. yet i don't think huskys are considered dangerous??? i understand this is done in some other areas of the u.s. anyway im sorry this is so long, but i need to know some facts before i write my letters...thanks for listening and any info will help

The best thing is to support proper animal management regulations. That means any animal should have proper and secure fencing (no chaining in unfenced areas or reliability on electric fences which do not keep people or children out of a dog's area), shelter, water and food and leash laws need to be seriously enforced. If those things would be enforced, the rest would take care of itself. Escalating fees for redeeming dogs found running at large - one time, a reasonable fee with increasing to punitive amounts. A dog deemed dangerous must be decided so on its actions not on its breed. Rather than trying to get your breed or some other breed off a list, offer alternatives that would be effective.
