| LA Times article on insurers not insuring certain breeds Sunday, may 5th edition page C-3 I know this has been discussed at length. hmmmm. I wonder what certain breed came up? Actually they name other dogs besides pit bulls and rotts so it's a small (very very very small) improvement. State Farm and Farmers tend to take an "individual" look at the pets so good for them. Unfortunatley State Farm is no longer writing new policies in California. Other companies will exlude the dog from coverage. Like fur coats and expensive jewelery. i dont have a problem with that. Its kind of making us put our money where our mouths are. If you really feel your dog is not a threat (which most of you do) then you have nothing to worry about. I can live with that Nationwide will not insure households with Rottweilers. I say support the companies that are making good decisions and pull your business (all of it, home, auto, life) from the companies that are idiots like nationwide |

| The only problem I have with State Farm continuing to say they don't have any breed specific guidelines is that they don't insist that their agents do what their policy state. IE take a look at the individual dog. I have a great agent and have never had any problems, but others on this forum have been turned down. Hmmmm, letter writing campaign?

| Maybe if the groups of reputable Rott, Pit, Dobe, GSD owners and breeders band together and make a list of insurance companies to patronize it would put a fairly large dent in the companies that do discriminate. There are thousands of us out here. Why not become our own lobbiests? |
