To walk, or not to walk..??

I just bought my basset hound a rottweiler friend. I can't BELIEVE how well-behaved she is being around the house...!!!

I was wondering though, at what age should I start walking her?She is about 12weeks old now, and is getting her last puppy shot in a week(it takes SO long to get appointments here. you wouldn't believe it..).
My basset loves to walk, and I take her for long walks, which I wouldn't take such a young pup on. But should she be walking with me at all?

Any help's appreciated

Thanks!

You own such a wonderful breed of dog!

Hi Shotgun and welcome to the forum.

Does your rotty currently wear a collar. If not I'd get her used to one NOW. Mine hated it at first as well as the leash, but I'd always leave the collar on. To get her used to the leash, I'd put it on while we were in the house at first just to get her used to it. And yes, take her for walks now. Use your own judgement. Short walks at first, then increase a little at a time.

She(Gypsy's her name :-)) sure does wear a collar. She never noticed it when we first put her on, and she still doesn't notice.

How old should they be before they start going on 'longer' walks??

And, I'm still feeding her three times a day... how long until I can switch to just two times a day..?
