Does anyone have an email address for this mayor Jay Goldman? We go to the dog shows in Charleston every July and have such a wonderful time. The hotel is right across the street from the civic center and walking distance to restaurants and the mall. I always look forward to going. Judging from the statement that he is looking to enact an ordinance to restrict pit bull and "other aggressive dog breeds", I'm sure that Rottweiler will fall in that category. I hope we don't see this statement come true.

Thanks! I will definitely email him today. As I said, we've pumped tourism dollars into his city every year! That will come to a screeching halt if he doesn't change his tune! I would hope that the Kennel Clubs in that area will take a position on this issue and stand strong.

What we NEED to do is whatever we can to make sure that the law doesn't get put in at ALL.... Not just try to make sure that "Rotties" aren't included because if we allow them to Outlaw "pit bulls" then they'll come for Rotties eventually and who knows how many breeds will be added over time.. Next thing you know we'll only be allowed to own a dog 30lbs and under everywhere... this BSL makes me sick :(

When I e-mailed the Mayor and Governor
it was not about Rotties it was about
a dog being LABELED DANGEROUS. I told
him I owned Rottweilers sure but I did
more than just talk about the Rotts...

I told him that he needed to make an
ordinance against irresponsible owners
and to not judge a breed by an owners
being irresponsible....

I also told him that it was unfair to
label all these breeds Dangerous by a
few dogs and I also added the article
about the Pomeranian that killed the
6 w/o baby.

Until owners become more responsible
they can make all the laws they want
to but it won't mean a thing to those
that don't care to start with? The
only people laws like that hurt are
those who try to do right!!!

I have to supervise my dogs in my own
yard why? Because of these types of
people, the neanderthal that lives
right down the road from us has PITS
they are beautiful dogs but you can
look at them and tell what he does
with them. I have to keep my kids in
chain-linked fence because of his
stupidity.....

I don't blame the dogs I blame their
owner that was my only point to the
Governor and Mayor of WV.

I know I have made some crazy statements
but this one takes the cake.

Am I locking my kids up so the dogs can run lose? Not that I know of...lol...I
think I just got a little carried
away.

I must admit though there are days it's quite tempting. Does any one have room to board??:p :D :p

I have sent my email to the mayor explaining that if he intends to enact some type of legislation it needs to be in fines and punishment of the owners who are allowed to act irresponsibly. A particular breed of dog is not inherantly dangerous. I urged him to visit his own city's dog show where he will see Am Staffs, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Bullmastiffs, etc. LOTS of those dogs he is labeling as dangerous. He will also see a lot of responsible people and how they care for their dogs. Any law against a particular breed is wrong---it will only affect those of us who live by the law--not those who continually choose to live OUTSIDE of it.
