| Is warmer climate like Florida bad for rotties? We were thinking to move to Florida but I read that rottweilers like cooler temperatures. Can they be happy and without health problems (because of the weather) in Florida, please? Thank you. |

| My Cally does just fine down here ( we're in Tampa area). She stays in the AC or on cool bathroom tile in the hot weather and we only walk early in the morning or after dark when its warm out. |

| Dogs are amazing creatures. They acclimate fairly quickly to anything we can toss their way as long as we do it intelligently. There are plenty of dogs here in New York that wilt when it's 60 degrees because they spend their days in the climate controlled home. And then.....there are dogs that can work very hard in the middle of a hot summers day because they have been aclimated to the climate by spending time out of the A/C. :) The choice is entirely up to the owner.

| I do not think there is a problem for Rottweilers with the warm weather, because I live in SE Asia which is very similar to Florida. They will shed their undercoat if they are imported from a very cold climatic area. I will advise that you give the dog some time to adjust its coat before subjecting them to heavy work or exercise in the afternoon. After the dog has shed its undercoat and acclimatize, there is really no problem. I jogged with them for two miles every two to three times a week. The only curiosity I have is that dogs breeding in hot climatic condition seems to be smaller in size. This is a generic trend that I have noticed together with some of my friends. We really do not know the answer, except it may be because of the hot weather. Does anybody have this experience or notice any differences in the average body mass and height of the Rottweilers bred in Fl vs Canada or NY? |

| I read that rotties are prone to heat stroke, too. Cooler weather is better for them. Everyone who lives in cooler climates says there rotties seem to love it and are happy playing in the snow as well. I also heard that males don't do as good with hot temperatures as the females. Is this true?
