| Maximum Height I have a question. My boys are now 8 months old. I was wondering when they will reach their height. I haven't measured them which I should probably do. Crichton is slightly taller than D'Argo and a little longer too. (And a whole lot lazier! :D ) I know that they will continue to get "wider" up until 2 years, but I was wondering if there is an age where they stop getting "taller." Thanks! P.S. In case you are going to ask, no they are not neutered yet. But don't worry! It will be done!

| I believe that the dog will continue to grow until about 3 yrs old. I adopted Ben at 10 months old and he didn't do much growing in the height department, but he has filled out in his chest. He's now at 85 lbs, and stands about 22-23 inches at the shoulder....a bit small for a male, but perfect for me!! The average height, full grown, according to the AKC website, for dogs is 24-27 inches and bitches 22-25 inches, with preferred size being mid-range of each sex. Correct proportion is of primary importance, as long as size is within the standard's range. I also read somewhere that a dog at 4 months of age is one half the size they will be when full grown...not sure how much truth there is in that though! Hope this helps!! :) |
