I'm with you, Audrey. Any moron can take things OUT OF CONTEXT and formulate an interpretation that suits their emotional need of the moment. Thankfully, it shows.

Re: On List of "Watched" Sites Due to # of Posts Advocating Abusive Training Methods?

I'm just wondering how the accusation that Rottweiler.net advocated abusive training techniques is suddenly being attributed to animal rights organizations? I don't think anything in the original post gave that information; in fact I think Angelbunny specifically asked the individuals to give the name of the so-called organization that was "watching", and they couldn't or wouldn't.

We're not allowed to discuss animal rights on this forum...or I would say more.

All I can say to nonsense like this is that, while my dog was desperately ill, the kindest, most caring and most supportive assistance I received was from people who post on this web site. It is ironic that the same people who told me, over and over that they were thinking of my dog, and saying prayers for his survival, would be accused (wrongly) of advocating animal abuse. I read this web site precisely because I want to learn.....and want to learn properly..........from people who have knowledge, experience, empathy and love for rottweilers.

Hey you people watching us!! I live in a suburb of Oklahoma City (Moore), come to my house & see how my Rottweiler is trained based on advice received from the people here.

Holly was a rescued rottweiler and was probably abused in the past (based on her behavior). She used to hide behind me and shake & shiver. Now she knows that people (that her mommy approves) are to be trusted and that her mommy won't let anything happen to her. Even the kennel has remarked what a changed dog she is.

I've read this thread a couple of times.

I was not going to reply to it, because I found the accusations to be absolutely pathetic,

BUT, here goes!

Anybody that has taken the time to research past posts on this forum, knows that it is completely false.

Many other things can be said about us, but animal beaters sure as hell is not one of them!

SAD, really sad!:(

What the h*** are these people talking about? I have learned more about the rottweiler breed by hanging out here than I have through all the training books I have ever read. Heck I don't even own a rottie yet. But when I do get my dog, it will be because of what I have learned from everyone here. Most people here are advocates of responsible breeding and training, and people who are very much AGAINST abuse of any sort. This is prepostrous. Absolutely ridiculous.

Obviously the person citing the thread which I was heavily involved in lacked the basic intelligence to cull out the true message, which started out as training advice to a member as to why what that member's VET told him to do may not be the best course of training. Regardless of our differing opinions on the subject, I think that the discussion helped the member discover that there were other methods of acheiving the same training goals WITHOUT having to consistently resort to physical force. Kind of the antithesis of abuse in my book. Having a background in law enforcement, I've been called and accused of a lot of things in my life, but animal abuser is new to me. Give me a friggin' break.

Let them go on their merry way, who cares -> they were just trouble in the making anyway. Let them find another site that has half as much knowledge and information available, coupled with open debate amongst educated, diverse, caring and dedicated owners. Bet they can't find one.

The very reason I became a member is because I felt the members here shared my belief in positive training methods.......

I visited one other site before finding rottweiler.net and had to stop reading a link because the so-called professional trainer advocated, in his own words, "To let the dog know who is alpha, you should string him up by a choke collar until he feels he's going to die."

I became physically ill and just shut off my computer altogether!!

All I can say is, let them watch......maybe they'll learn something!

Just had to comment

Though there are times when their are heated debates, sarcasm, what ever, I truly have to say I have NEVER, in the year I've been here ever heard of anyone giving harsh training advice. It's quite the opposite actually. The experts here have always given well thoughtout advice and many would try to give those who did use harsh training a better way of handling things. I've only ever seen posts trying to convince people to NOT train in harsh ways, maybe I've missed something. Unfortunatley I've heard numerous comments about this site from outside people, people who have viewed the site though never posted but everyone has their own individual oppinion of things and everyone has the choice to not be here;) As many know I've been agitated with some things but nothing has ever been directly negative to ME. I take the info I can use and move on and at times choose to take a break from it all but this is one subject everyone feels very strongly about and that is people here try their best to educate and help wherever it is needed and as I said before, I've never seen anyone post a training method in a harsh way. Are they sure it was this site ? Well everyone knows what people here were accused of and it's NOT true so don't let it bother you.

Anytime I came to this forum for advice, pertaining to training methods, food, or just to vent any worry that I might have had pertaining to Missy and her Epilepsy, or whatever, I always recieved very good advice, an honest concern for my worries, and not anytime did I recieve anything told to me that was not for the best.

Maybe those who are "trying to bash" this forum did not like the advice they asked for. As for the members who are on here, you could not ask for better people, I can name quite a few who have helped me and Missy. Everyone on here are nothing but Rottie lovers. This breed has enough problems because they are so misunderstood. I have never read any posts on here that suggested ever to beat animals.

It's all a matter of intrepretation of what is being presented. Is the glass 1/2 full or is it 1/2 empty............... Maybe it's just some people's way of showing just how jealous they are over the perfessionalizm in others. I'll tell ya, If the day ever comes when I have the pleasure of ever adopting a young Rottie puppy ( and I needed some advice ) this would be the First place I would come. (Until the little one is ready for school)

I also think that we should just keep keepin' on. Lets move forward..........:)
