| Hi, I am just going to bite the bullet and show my tailed dogs in AKC. I am entering the Bucks County KC dog show and Trenton in May. Anyone want to join me? I know there are a lot of tailed dogs in my area (PA and NJ) I am tired of not enjoying what I love (showing my dogs) because of the tails. I did show my boy once and he was withheld a ribbon due to the tail. I am just going to keep throwing him out there! Idon't know anything about the judges, I just want to get my dogs out there and have fun:) Hope to meet some of you there!

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC Oh much luck to you! If enough are persistant, maybe they will get the idea. I'd sure do it with you, but we don't have a rottie in our home ... yet ;). I do have to say, the one thing I would miss would be the famous "wiggle butt". |

I would research the judges...there ARE some that will place a tailed dog. I wouldn't waste your time on the others. Cathy Thompson is one judge who will place a tailed dog, if everything about the dog deserves it.

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC When I showed my boy, one judge came up to me and said "shame he has a tail , he's a nice boy" I was like "why didn't you put him up then?" I think peer pressure gets to them even if they have put up a tailed dog in the past. Let me look up the judge's name for bucks and let me know if you have any suggestions.... ok judge is Ms Biggs? It has been a while since I have shown in AKC |

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC Mr Biggs.... reminds me of Mr Big of Sex in The City!! *LOL*Okay seriously now....WELL DONE!! I hope your boy does really well and good for you for taking the plunge Does the standard say anything about having a tail, for I sure as hell cant find anything. But i guess its what the judges like that counts. Is this a Rotty only show or an ALL Breeds Show? I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!! Lots of luck! Trina |

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC Our standard states "should be docked" it calls for a docked dog (AKC) USRC follows the FCI standard and allows tails. I am hoping others with taild dogs will begin to show as well. maybe if they know I'll be there they will try too? I am entering my female. She will be 22months. Should I enter her in Novice or open? She was bred in USA and technically coulod go in Am bred. My boy will be in Germany so he won't be around. |

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC If she is Am bred then that is definitely the class I would enter her in. A couple of summers ago at the Canadian Nationals there was a canadian bred tailed rott entered in the Can Bred class...(she won her class). I think it reinforces the point to the judge that just because the dog or bitch has a tail it just isn't necessarily a trifling "fad" to import a dog from a non docking country and that judges should take a dog or bitch seriously with a tail if this is coming from an American breeding. I would never enter Novice......last summer when I sent my (now) specials bitch down to compete for her Am Ch I had initially thought about entering the Novice class and my handler quashed THAT idea really quick.....something about that the judges never take the dog in Novice class seriously.....I don't know he chose the class he wanted her in I just entered. In terms of your girl I would enter Am Bred!!! ![]() Heather Peters |

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC You say you just miss showing your dogs, then why not go to UKC were they allow it?Then when your docked pups are older take them in either or both AKC and UKC? |

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC When i asked about showing at Dogs Victoria (our Governing body) the lady i spoke to told me all about each class and when we got to novice she not to worry about that class Graduate or Limit and just stick to these; Baby Puppy Minor Puppy Puppy Junior Intermediate Aus Bred Open Champion (if applicable) I am not sure why but i am guessing she knows what she was talking about, maybe they are not popular and trying to weed them out *shrugs* i have no idea. Jett is entered in 4 more shows over the next couple of months (2 more baby puppy and 2 minor puppy) , these are all breeds shows so that will be a bit of fun. |

For your info... I have NO docked pups. I am looking in to purchasing one in the near future but not because it is docked. I know you have problems with the whole tail thing but they have just as much right to be in the ring and WIN as does your dog. |

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC Oh I saw you said you had a litter of pups that were docked?I don't have a problem with tail dogs.I don't like it when people say join a club that's laws are on way for over a hundred yrs and someone joins and wants them to change for them, insted of going with a club that fits them. It happends all over in bowling a mens legue, women try and join even if there are women leg. But you don't see a man try to join a womens leg. |

| Re: Going to show my tailed rottweiler in AKC This is not to open a very well argued subject AGAIN but rather just a little advice. Our standard says "tail docked close to body". Until the standard tells a judge how to judge the tail, which we (the ARC) hope never happens, it will be very difficult and expensive to get points on your tailed Rottweilers. The ARC has had clear-cut seminars for judges to stress the fact that our standard states "docked". I will not argue this nor will I post again on this subject....just saying if you enter your dogs you probably won't have much fun? which is why you say you are doing it? Why not show the german style shows where your dogs will have a much better chance?
