Re: Our First Show - Any Tips??

Here's what we use for bait, smells awful but works great.

1lb liver, 1/2 cup water, 1 egg, 3/4 cup of flour, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 2 T. of garlic powder

Blend in food processor and bake for 20 min. The batter should be thicker than cake batter but thinner than cookie dough. You may have to adjust a little. We only make this for shows to keep them excited for it. When I'm making it, the dogs don't leave the kitchen.

Re: Our First Show - Any Tips??

Posted this in Show Brags

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....Jett got 2nd Place, Baby Puppy Bitch at the RCV today. I am so proud of her, she was such a little gem. The bitch that got first place is actually Jett's sister and was shown by my breeder, so needless to say she was over the moon with how these two went (I actually have Jett's sister at my house tonight for a sleep over, they are so cute together). There were 8 puppies in the ring.

Her critique is as follows:

Four and a half month, large, typical, good bone. Typical head, still to develop. Slightly large ears, well set. Dark eyes, good pigmentation. Good length of neck, good body, very well balanced. Well developed chest for age. Good topline, good angulation front and rear, well set. Very good movement, good coat. Correct dentition for age.

Grade: VP2

Questions.... what is dentition?

I also got to show another dog today, one of my breeders other dogs as she had entered 3 of her bitches in the same class, Junior puppy. The one i was showing placed 6th out of 9, the other 2 she had didn't place. I am sure if my breeder had handled her instead of me she would have placed higher. With this being my first show and all i was quite unsure and had a little trouble running her as I ran out of bait and she was looking for Marg (breeder)

Had such a wonderful day and I am just so excited that i had to share my news with you all Cant wait til my next show!!

Re: Our First Show - Any Tips??

Dentition is the number and placement of the teeth.

Congratulations for a successful first venture!

Re: Our First Show - Any Tips??

Congrats TrinaJ! You give me hope for myself and Dozer! He's only 12 weeks now, but when he's older I want to show him and I've never shown a dog before. So I hope we can learn together and do as well as you and Jett did!
