I watched the working group last night....fascinating animals....wanted to know anyone's thoughts on what the handler wanted to show on the rottie? I've never seen a show before, don't know what the handler tries to show off in the rottie, but this one seemed to jump a little during his/her? walks and looked at one point to herd the handler. I can understand the herding part being shown, but am confused as to the jumping part?

Anyone able to help me understand this? Who knew dog shows were so interesting!? Okay, I guess a lot of you...... lol

I didn't get a chance to watch the working group live, but recorded the rebroadcast yesterday morning. I'm not the showing expert here, but I've watched a lot. When they are showing individually, they want to demonstrate the movement, or gait, of the dog. The Rottie was a lovely dog, but did not show as well as he could have, IMO--he didn't just trot out looking straight ahead as you saw the other dogs do, and was a bit too focused on the handler (not really herding) He was just staying a little too close and turning and looking up at the handler (thinking about treats?), rather than just trotting out and showing.
