But not for all dogs. I wouldn't chance it. There's a good reason why most clubs don't allow more than one dog on the field at a time during bitework. I like the differences in the venues too, and see no reason for them to blend anymore than they have. What next? Allowing all the missing teeth like AKC? Ok...I realize that is a difference in the standards, but there are DOZENS of allowable items people can bait their dog with outside the ring. Food to me is a reward for OB training outside the ring... I like seeing a different kind of drive in the ring.

Re: What entails showing my Dog?

I have a story to tell ... a TRUE story LOL. Last fall a friend and I were at a show, a Sieger type show and the rule was supposed to be no food in the ring. Someone was baiting their dog with cheese and my friend complained. The judge who is also a USRC officer told my friend " so what , go get a piece of cheese ".

My friend was competing for final placement ( 1st - 4th place ) so there was no way he had time to go find a piece of cheese or anything else for that matter.

I know of a professional handler with pockets full of food items

I also know that someone helped me out once by showing one of my girls. He had a pocket full of ham LOL. As soon as he smushed that ham around in his hand my girl followed him ( well ... his hand ) everywhere

Re: What entails showing my Dog?

I received word back from the USRC Show committee. The USRC has no rules in place regarding food at a USRC show, also the same for Bite work equipment. While this may be something an individual club may put in their premium it is not in the USRC Show rules. Hope that helps clarify this.

Re: What entails showing my Dog?

If you are going to bring food, I am more motivated by steak, or some really good ribs!

I think a ball will work just fine for your boy after seeing him play a few weeks ago.
